channel cats in southern mn

Does anyone know of any lakes in the Mankato area that have channels in them? I am looking to take my kids out for some fun.

I know this REALLY long lake in Mankato that has a current to it and holds tons of Channel Catfish up to 20 lbs or more. The lake is the Minnesota River Lake.

Seriously though just take them shore fishing on the river...don't need a boat to be successful.

MN river is full of cats and its easy access as well

A lake full of channels is shetek, not really in the mankato area but worth the drive if you want catfish.

I was born and raised in the Mankato area, the river is the only way to go!!!!!

Fountain Lake and the Channel leading into Albert Lea lake hold A lot of catfish in the edible range with occasional hogs

Both Loon Lake and Lake Crystal (near Lk. Crystal)have nice populations of cats. Caught a ton of them this spring. Biggest @ 8lbs.
