HugoBox
I'm guessing many of you have seen the "Know War" bit on TV - I'm lazy and use a palomar for everything - it has yet to fail me. It would be interesting to know what y'all use.
jsondag
The Palomar knot is the best for braid. IMO. It holds a lot better than any of the more intricate knots used for other mono based applications.
waleyhuntr
paloma for me to. also has never failed me. well i fish mainly fireline and you have to tie that knot or your line slips.. lost a couple fish back in the day before i tied that knot and now id never go back
propster
Palomar is a great knot, but the Super Unit Knot beat it on knot wars. Guy sent it in claimed he "invented" it and he called it the Fishin Fool or Fools Knot or something like that, but it was around before that as the super uni. You can tie it with your eyes shut, a tad easier than the palomar, but both are good.
Nick Kuhn
I've never had in improved clinch break on me. But I always try to break the knot myself before ever casting with it. If it holds, it's good to go.
10,000 Casts
Palomar all the way for me, I use it for everything. Quote:a tad easier than the palomar I've seen diagrams of the uni knot, never tried it, but the palomar is very easy and strong.

fishcast
I tie the uni knot for almost everything..Tried testing one brand of 80lb braid last year. Tied one end to a bunk bed and another to a stick, and then pulled until it broke. Tried the uni and the palomar knot. The line broke at the knot everytime with the palomar. The line broke somewhere up the line everytime with the uni.
BullFighter
Another VOTE for the Palomar.Improved clinch knot works great on Mono...if you Wet the line first!
Rebel9921
Bucher Power Knot all the way for me... It seems odd that Im unable to find any how-to diagrams on this specific knot online... if anybody can find it, please let me know...Thanks!
TSchultz
What is the difference between the uni know and the super uni knot?
propster
One pass through the eye vs two, and it's the two that will keep it from ever slipping on you. This knot is stronger than the palomar, and easier to tie. We use 5 "shoulders" or turns.
lunge
I tie a bimmini twist to double the line then with the loops in the line, I cut the loops and use a palomar to the leader. for my floro leaders I like to use the palomar aswell. this year im going to try out the leader knot from the next bite HSOforum.
