Devil's Lake Fishing Reports

Recommended Posts

We usually go up the 2nd to last or the last weekend of March every year to DL and we usually drive all over the lake. I would say biggest problem is usually getting onto the ice once you are on you are safe, but the accesses usually get a good protion of water on them!

Depending on the weather conditions it shouldn't be an issue... If we get a bunch of rain at the end of March like last year that'll change things.. but more often that not you're ok.. you'll have to watch for slush holes, etc... but in general you should be ok.

Made it to devils lake this weekend fished sat morning till 10.30 and 230 till dark. Had alot of red marks but not much action. caught 1 7 in walleye. tried deep early afternoon same thing no bites. went shallow till dark

fished for a couple hours sunday morning and had 1 bite.

I fished the north end of 6 mile on the sand bar to bud bay.

Alot of snow and slush showing up more. The only actiity i saw was the casino and woodlands to the dome house.

Maybe it is just me but the bite has been slow since the 2nd weekend in jan.

fished devils lake friday to sunday a few hours morning an a few at night. First thing if it doesnt have a track under it forget it. we are talking 2 to 3 feet level with drifts and now slush pockets. fished 6 mile and out by the towers fished 14 to 28 feet of water. I ended up with 6 keeper walleys and no perch. better than last time. I expect it to keep getting better every weekend if you can get around. my brother picked up a few perch west of the casino. there are alot of people fishing where they can get on the lake.

Tried the "Norwegian TV" in the trees (6fow) on Devils Saturday morning with no luck. Went to Irving in the afternoon with no luck, ran a tank of gas in the new auger and never marked a fish on the NE side. Talked to about 9 groups of guys this weekend; not much of anything. Went to "a lake near by" on Sunday and did good on pike with tip-ups.

If you don't take a snowmobile out there forget it, glad I brought my long track!

A group of us are planning a trip to devils on march 19 for a couple dayS. I hope by then a person can move around a little bit. Plan on fishing six mile bay for some pike. I just hate the thought of draging snowmobiles along. Any guesses on what might happen by then as far as lake travel?

It could melt, but who knows. The 19th is a long ways off. We're getting some warm weather coming through, but if anything that means slush. With the amount of snow on the lake, either way travel will is limited with a truck. Snowmobile is the only way to go for the forseeable future.

there are lots of places to camp up there. Minnewaukan has one in town, six mile bay there is one right off Hwy 19, and you can also camp at grahams island state park which is really a nice place. I dont know of any free places but i think grahams island is only like 10 bucks a night. as far as fishing i havent been hearing many reports but im thinking about heading up there this weekend to check it out.

Fished Devils on Saturday. Fished the same spot on East devils lake. Nothing. I'm not much of a shore fisherman I'm bringing the boat next time. The water temp on that side of the lake was 44 degrees and the shallow bays are 50 degrees. I saw lots of boats on the lake. Everybody I talk to had prettymuch the same luck I had although I did hear of some people catching a few fish up in the coulees(NWpart). I'm sure people are catching fish somewhere. I can tell you where they are not biting:) I'll try to find out what boat launches has there docks in. I'll guess that Creel bay has there dock in but unsure. If anybody can find out anything on the public boat launches please report.

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
