FM_Mike
I recently purchased a new baitcast reel and am looking at what type of line may be the best or better for my use.I will be using it for throwing spinner baits and cranks for Bass and Walleye. Not new to Baitcast reels but never sure what line or lines type might be the best choice. Thanks, Mike
riverrat56
I'd recommend 10 or 15lb Power Pro or 10lb mono. The mono would be a little heavy for eye's and a bit light for bass in my opinion.
PerchJerker
The thing you need to watch out for with baitcast reels and superlines is the thin line diameter, it will dig into itself on the spool and hurt your casting distance and accuracy at best, maybe even cause backlashes or snap-offs.The lightest braids I use on my bait casters are 8 lb diameter, which is 30 lb line. I cast cranks, spinnerbaits, plastics etc. with those setups. On my spinning reels I go with smaller diameter line, but not on my bait casters. crothmeier
30lb or 40lb Power Pro. Has an 8-10lb diameter. Thats all i use on my baitcasters.
FM_Mike
Anyone used the new Fireline Braid?? Heard it was made for easy use on baitcasters. Thanks, Mike
NCLaker
I am having pretty good luck with Stren Super Braid. Seems to keep roundness, durable, and casts great. Currently have the green line - only complaint is that the green bleeds and end up with green on my cork. This year, may have to take a look at the Stren Sonic Braid. Esox_Magnum
I run 30# power pro on my walleye baitcasting set up for throwing cranks.
canman
I like 10lb power pro for trolling spinners/cranks. I doesn't work well for casting cranks, too many backlashes. I can never get the reel adjusted correctly for it.
