Matt C
My speedo is stuck at 65mph when idle or off. When I drive it, it will move a little, but goes from 65mph to 10...etc.I did take an air hose and blow air from the motor hole, and that moved the needle, and I then blew air from the speedo back through the motor in case there was junk in it, came out clean. Its connected to an '07 Yami 150 if that helps.Any suggestions? New speedo? Thanks!
marine_man
When you blew in the hole with an air compressor, did the needle return to 0, or just go above 65, and then come back down?If it didn't return to 0 it's time for a new speedo, especially if you verified the tube / hose is clear in both directions.marine_man
Matt C
It blew to around 30mph. Then came back to 65 when I let up the air. I was using about 100psi out of the compressor.
boatfixer
So it was at 65, you blew into it and the needle continued around to 35? Yep MM's right time for a new speedo

hydro
Take it out and shake it to see if any water comes out. If you get a couple of drips, it got water into it last year and froze, ruining the Bourdon tube.

Considering my first thought of the "Speedo" being the clothing item I would never be found dead in, Hydro's comment had me laughing so hard it brought tears to my eyes
