i hit the cannon river to day and i got 1 three pound redhorse 1 five pound carp and a bunch of little smallies

here is the redhorse (golden)

i found a HUGE school of bigmouth buffalo while i was fishing for carp but it was impossible to get to them.

this picture was taken from a tree

there is some carp and redhorse in that school as well but it was about half buffalo and the other half was carp and redhorse

got this redhorse on the sauk today. not sure what kind. it swallowed my hook, and it was bleeding pretty heavily, so i kept it. gonna have some smoked fish in a few days! laugh

im thinking its a large shorthead... it had a concave dorsal fin, red tail, and a small head. the size of the head is really making me lean toward shorthead....

got about 100 white suckers today, all around this size. about 3/4ths of them came on hairs ear nymphs, using small split shot to sink it, and just let it drift over rocks.

my dad also snagged a nice 8 or so lb carp . no pic since it was snagged

nice work Jake, were you around your stomping grounds or more near fergus?

more on my grounds. i was on the sauk river somewhere in tod county. lol. i got a new pb today (my profile pic) and im keeping the spot a secret wink

cutbait for cats? how late into the season can you catch them?

i use them for bowfin, but i can imagine they will work for cats.

and how late in the season catch the suckers? im not sure, that was only the second time i have been to the area

I've caught suckers as late as September. I would think that if you can find them, you can catch them.

And sucker is my second favorite cutbait for channel cats, right behind shad. They also work quite well for bowfin, as Jake said.
