I know all of us FM'ers are well educated and know that littering our lakes is just uncalled for. With all the snow disapearing, reality is starting to set in and showing that there's a lot of people out there that don't give a d--. Please help these lazy a--'-- out by picking up a couple pieces of there trash when leaving the lake. Thank you. The shorelines will look so much better come soft water season.

good luck out there

I went out on the lake we live on yesterday and found 3 pop cans. A place where someone had a bon fire and a pice of a fishhouse still frooze in. I will have to take a chisel out and get that out of the ice. I think as much traffic we had on the lake it was clean for the most part.

That wouldn't happen to be bemidji would it? I saw where a guy left his spear house in one spot all year and it was froze in so bad they had to rip it off the frame.

was out on pelican a week ago. got some dandy sunnies out there. well, the bite slowed so a buddy and i ventured around punching holes and trying a find a new bite. in the meantime throwing trash into the 5 gallon bucket from others out there before. even digusted to see a used condom now and again.

How many people here rinse their fillets in the toilet after filleting them? What the [PoorWordUsage] do i have to eat fish out of lakes that others use as toilets. Even the [PoorWordUsage] and urine stains on the ice. [PoorWordUsage] in a bag or pee in a bottle. It is illegal to do both in a lake anyways, why aren't there more tickets issued than there is.

how many of us have been checked by CO's while ice fishing? How many have probably had yellow snow around the house when he/she stopped by for a visit? Isn't that an apparent ticket?

I live on a lake, and buzzed around the areas that had the shanty towns to pick up trash on my 4 wheeler. After just a couple hours (part of it fishing an open hole), I had 2 large garbage bags full of trash and I only hit a couple of the more popular areas.

Pretty sad that people think it is okay to use the lake as there own personal land fill. Given the amount of trash on top of the ice, I shutter to think of the mountains of trash that people are shoving down the hole.

In addition to us looking out for people messing with permanent shacks, we should all try to keep a watchful eye for people leaving their trash on the ice - either get on them to pick it up or report their license to the proper authorities.

Oh great another trash on the lake post....Give me a break. Used condom now and again? I have been fishing 20 plus years and never run into that [PoorWordUsage]. You must be looking for Vister and counting how many turds you can find on the lake.

Call them lazy ... I consider it deeper than that. They obviously have no regard for the environment or our lakes. My guess is that these are the same people keeping over their limit, targeting fish out of seasson, transporting exotic plants because they are not properly cleaning off their trailer/boats, etc.

Swill - don't have to look hard - I came across a bag of used condoms when I was picking stuff up. I suggest you drive around one of the more popular lake that has not been clean up yet, focus on picking up the trash and NOT fishing - won't be long and you'd be pretty disguested as well. The lake is my back yard and something we treasure - I would guess if someone was dumping their trash in your back yard, you would be more than a little upset as well.

The fact that this has been a topic more than once seem to imply that it is a bigger problem than you realize! As far as yellow snow I don't know about that..I have yet to meet a person who carries his pee around the lake with him, and as far as it being illegel I haven't seen that in the regs book before.

Swill - came across this post that you made in another forum

Garbage in the oceans is good. Just watch survirorman, and he uses garbage all time to survive. I would hate to be stranded without some old rope, rubber hose, pop can, metal scraps, paper to start a fire, etc.

Look at it this way, museums are filled with ancient garbage, so it will help future generations to figure out how we lived.

I guess that expains your attitude towards this topic. Pretty sad.

If we as sportspeople do not take care of our own lakes and outdoors, who will??? We cannot leave it up to the abusers.

We need to take care of our resourses and make good examples.

Keep posting on the messes and keep up the good work cleaning up after the slobs....maybe they are watching us and laughing at us, but we know that we are doing the right thing.

lazy ******s i was raised on respecting the enviroment. i usually go home with like a trash bags full of litter every day when im ice fishing. and almost double that in the summer. its just the nerve of some people, saying they love the enviroment but they pollute it like they dont even care

I don't understand why the DNR doesn't use some it's money to raise awareness and educate people on keeping our lakes and rivers clean. I know that a campaign like that would impact some people, not all, but some.

calvin- most people are really stubborn, especially the older generation of fisherman. i have seen guys throw pop cans down their holes. and when i asked why. they would say "when i was a boy my dad taught me to throw all my pop cans in the water, the make a good home for alot of fish"

if its a habit to some people. its just like quitting smoking. its hard

I seem to find more garbage along the shores of rivers than on ice covered lakes. Not that the iced lakes are litter free, but river fisherman are worse IMO. They bring all kinds of junk with them to camp out on the shore and just leave it there. That and you also have the group of people that think a river is the best place to throw away some old tires or a wash machine. I agree maybe some ads would help.

wow I am glad I can be the common enemy cool. I love it... Never mind the fact I don't litter, but hey, if it gets you all worked up and you must check this site every few minutes, then great!!!! I will be that guy, I would love to be that guy. But wait? You can't make a joke on the fishing minnesota site! We are too busy having fun and discussing fun topics like wow are we lazy or what?

I will take those old tires, for building paintball bunkers... However, please make sure you bring that sweet dog picture too. Love that! So outdoorman frown

Maybe we can get some more angry faces.... One must mean sort of angry mad 2 = really worked up madmad I can't imagine typing 3, just much angry for one post to have.

The only thing sad I found on this post was 1078 posts since 1/07

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
