CFRay
Took the train and went fishing at Devils lake for two days this past week. Poor fishing to say the least. One 19" walleye and three white bass for five guys over two full days. We used fish houses of the resort. One day in 45' water, the next in 18' near dead trees. Did not mark many fish either. Low results were the normal reports in the evening talking to others. On the last evening one group from Indiana claimed 65 perch while out w/ a Patrol guide far west of the resort. Very nice people, accomodations, & fish houses and it was a neat experience to ride a train.
Flaco651
Thats too bad it was slow up there. My buddies were up there a few weeks ago and it was non stop on the walleyes for the first two days, and got into the perch on the last day. It probably helped that my buddy's uncle lives on the lake. I wouldn't doubt the claim of 65 perch. If you really get on them, you can catch a 100+ in a day. I missed out first time around this year, but I am hoping to get back up there later this month. Devils is one of my favorite lakes to ice fish. selas
How thick is the ice up there, heading last week of March for the annual trip, makeing sure there will be enough ice!
DarkArcher77
The ice is still plenty thick. But by the end of march the ice is degrading and travel will depend on the weather.

AsianPro
Well just got back from the big lake. Three day 24 wally 1 jumbo and four whitties. Tried all over the lake with no luck on the structure point from 10ft to 36 ft. Friday spent the day searching not but wind.Drill about two hundred holes with no luck. Saturday set up by the casino in fourty six feet on the flats and caught all the fish, consistantly throughout the day. Today nada same spot just finicky and no bitters. Had to leave early for the trip home, Minnesota seven hours home what a drive. All in all not a bad trip four the four of us. Nice resort woodlands cabins. selas
Rangerforme, we are staying at west Bay resort out west of town. I would like to at least get a phone number so if a guy runs into a few fish we could let each other know how they are biteing, and maybe grab a beer, but seems you cant put your email adress on here, so I am not sure how to contact you? We hope to be able to drive on as usual, or if things dont look good we will bring the wheelers also, there will be 3 groups of us searching for fish, and 9 guys so we should be able to track some down. I tried to PM ya but it didnt let me do that either?

spear foot 1
ya, I didn't go back to devils lake this last weekend went to black duck in stead but would like to hear some reports on howfishing was.
Flip37
Fished Friday and Saturday. Friday was slow, could find the perch but couldn't make them bite. Fish 6 mile bay that evening, caught nothing but a few white bass. Once again found the perch Saturday but couldn't make them bite, fished the evening by the casino and got a few walleyes, biggest being 19" and 22". Driving on ice was good as soon as you got off the roads. The roads are a bit scary with all the water on them. All the accesses have to be really tough by now as they were deteriorating rapidly when we left.
spear foot 1
Thanks for the report I think ice fishing is pretty much over here in central minnesota also. May be one trip north yet but I think my return trip to devils will have to wait til next year. Least had one good trip out there this year.
