I don't have one, but I met a guy that did today out on the lake! I watched some videos on the unit and it looks kinda cool. I walked up the the guy and talked to him for awhile about it, and he said he liked it, and for the price it seems like a good deal. it has bottome zoom, interfearance rejection, 1/2" target separation!, great battery life!, lcd heated screen for really cold days!, nice softpack!, ducer arm, I would love to try one out myself, and possibly buy one someday. It would be nice to have that and a Flasher.

They are a very good unit.. I was up at the Brainerd JC tournament.. and if you can imagine all the units out there.. the new Showdown did quite well!!! We were able to get rid of all the interferance off the screen.. the only other unit we were able to do that with was the LX-5.

I have been testing one out far a few days and gotta say its not a bad unit. It was able to get rid of interference from an LX5 that was in a hole 2 ft away. So far the only down fall I see with it are that the lines are hard for me to see. Side by side with a flasher you notice fish apear on the flasher right away, not so much with the showdown. For the price its a great unit for somone that is wanting to fish on a budget.

Thanks PJ! Just for your info: i went out laker fishing for the first time on saturday. Landed one 16" laker for 4 hours of fishing. The showdown worked real well, and saturday was REAL cold. I was in 30FOW and I saw the laker jump from no where and slam my jig.

I bought one when they first came out. The following year I sent it in for a software upgrade. I love how it works. I only have one issue when trying to zoom in if the depth is just over 10 ft. It will either zoom in above or below my target range. But if I play with a bit I can get into the range I want.

KTapper, was the guy you met at the Jaycee's tourney and wearing black carharts? If so, I'm pretty sure that was me you were talking to.

The Jaycee's tourney was the first use of my new showdown and I really liked it. After reading reviews prior to buying the unit my only fear was the noise rejection wouldn't work so what better place to try it than the Jaycee's Extravaganza! Well, it took a little while playing with the noise/sensitivity adjustments but I got it dialed in with no more interference!

I love the auto zoom, depth display, auto range adjustment, long battery life, and the 1/2" target separation. But most of all I love the low price combined with all the previously mentioned features. As someone who doesn't get a chance to get out too much, it's nice to get the features of the expensive units with the price of the base model vex's and marcums. Time will tell if I truly like it for the long haul but so far I love it.

My only complaint I have with it so far is while the display is backlit, the buttons are not making messing with the settings in the dark a little difficult without some sort of lighting.

I'd recommend the showdown to anyone who asked.

Got to use it for the first time yesterday with the new 5.6 upgrade that will be released soon and from what I saw it is great. The 2 things I noticed and played around with were the sensitivity and zoom. The sensitivity is way better now than it was, you turn it up less than half of what you would normally to get a better view of your jig. Now the zoom change rules, you still zoom into a 5ft area but u can move it up in 1ft increment instead of 5ft, which is really nice. It got rid of the problem of when your in 16ft and it zooms into 20ft, also I think by doing this they got rid of the problem with the bottom bouncing between different depths. So far so good with the new upgrade, I will keep everyone updated.

Also when talking to nature visions design team I found out that if you should always run in ice mode unless in shallow water. The ice mode was first put in to keep the screen warm but it also puts out more power when running in this mode, so when you turn it off it is like being in low power mode on the vexilars.

Ive owned one for a year now and love it... the vertical screen is easy to understand. The zoom feature is very nice. If you have something like a pilke jig on you can even see the seperation of your jig from you bait. Battery life is awesome also..

You stated that you have the 5.6 upgrade? When did this come out and how do we get this loaded on our units? Mine might have it but I would like to find out how to check so I can upgrade mine if possible...

I think he is using a pre-released version. His post says that it WILL BE released SOON. Companies will often times send out new versions to limited control groups prior to official release, which gets more "real life" exposure for the new software and get those last wrinkles out. I'm a big fan of that versus the alternative, when they release buggy software to everyone.

You can check your version by looking on the back of the unit, most will have the 3.2 upgrade if u have the showdown or if you got the VPG upgraded last year. The 5.6 is the newest version and I am not sure when the offical relaese of it will be. I stopped into nature vision after I received an email from them telling me about it. They said it was at 99% and should have an offical release soon. You could send them an email and see if you can get the upgrade. If they will upgrade you would have to send your unit in and tell them what you want done. There is a small fee to have this done. I am lucky living in brainerd and being able to stop in there to get stuff done when I need it done. Just keep checking the news on there site for the release.

I had my dad's VPG updated with the showdown stuff and it works great. Kinda cool that you can just load a new program onto it and make it better. I will be interested to see what happens with the 5.6 version. They make it better and better each time.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
