Strikemaster mag 2000 power auger

ya, I think for sure it would be a good choice to get the lazer 224 if you can find it, or if you cant then just get a two blade system for the 2000. It will be very slow if you dont. It will be a little more, but trust me, its better to wait a while, rather than get something you regret buying lol

I got mine used about 7 years ago, its probably 15-20 years old. I have changed the spark plug once and done nothing else. Never drained the gas or cleaned the carb....it runs like a dream. I can't even believe it when the thing starts every winter. Can't go wrong in my opinion.

Mrs boilerguy bought me a mag 2000 9 years ago for Christmas. Whatta woman!!! Since then I've replaced the spark plug (this year) and that's about it. I did switch over to the Amsoil 100:1 mixture and I can really tell the difference is cold start and power.

If you're asking if the mag 2000 is a good auger, the answer is a definate yes.

Down here in eastern Iowa we don't usually have tons of ice. We currently have like 14", a little to much to use a hand auger, but want to be able to go north to more extreme ice. As for the handle problem, is it easy to get a replacement? How is the chipper blade for new hole cutting?

Thanks again,

Michael

I have owned one for about 9 years also and the only thing that I have ever done to it is add gas and replace the blade this year.

It always starts every year when I get it out and it always cuts holes when I need it too...

There are probably faster ones out there but for the money the Mag2000 is a fantastic purchase.

You will not be disappointed..

I just bought mine a couple of weeks ago. It's been great to me, watch the dvd that comes with it, and you'll figure it out. It does take a little extra time to cut a hole. I went through over 2 feet of ice in about 25-30 seconds earlier this week. Thats not a long time to me. Just put a little pressure on the handle when pushing it down. I bought the 10.25 inch model, they also sell a 8.25, i'd imagine the smaller inch would be a little faster. For the price you can't beat it. I love mine..

I've had one for about 5 years and love it. Though I have to admit it's the only one I've ever had. Being from WI, I may have bought a Jiffy as I try to buy local, but MN is the next best, and I got it as a gift. I also have 2 strikemaster hand augers, so I definitely like their product. I have the 8 1/4" bit on my Mag 2000 which is plenty big for anything I've ever pulled up through the ice. At times, I even wish it were smaller, say 6" or 7" as I usually fish for gills and such. Though the bit larger hole area is nice when using cameras and such as it allows you to push the cables to the side as opposed to bringing them out of the hole all of the time. The Lazers may cut a bit faster, but at a higher cost and a greater chance of dulling when you hit something as opposed to the chipper style blades. In my opinion, you can't go wrong with a Mag 2000.

Mag 2000 here too. One of my handles broke as well. Other than that it has performed very nice. Starts every time out quickly and cuts a decent hole. There are better augers out there but like anything you'll pay for them as well. You won't be disappointed if you buy one.

Got to give my strikemaster lazer mag exp out for the first time yesterday. It is a hole cutting machine. Very little pressure needed to get it through the ice. I was on about 14" of ice. The only thing I noticed is that before you get to the bottom of the ice, pulling the auger back to clear the blades was a good idea to keep the auger from binding up at the end. Has anyone else noticed this?

Lund I had that problem many times before. After I went through my description below, my RPM's are back to normal along with good gas/oil mix. Haven't had the problem since...

I had mine for 4 years, I let it sit for too long and it gummed up. I cleaned her up and ran great!

Just recently though, the fuel line got jammed in the throttle linkage near the tank. Has been a little stiff for 2 years - just thought it was stiff! It has always felt a little stiff. Stiff is good sometimes, ya know! As a result my throttle handle, (cheap plastic) allowed the cable to pass through it. I installed a small cotter key to hold the cable in the handle and shortened the fuel line. She works like never before now!! I love it!

I have strikemaster 2000, have for about 5 years starts first pull nearly every time even for the first time every winter. The only I had to do on it was put a new on/off switcth on it. my Brother broke it off on something but other than that it runs like a champ.
