Hi - I have Allied auto insurance, and they also insure my Jayco 5th wheel RV, and my Ice Castle. Castle costs me $50 2x per year. Have your agent check your auto policy company, and insure it as an RV.

yep what somethingfishy said....it is no different than a camper.....somethingfishy- if you haven't already, you should look into the contents coverage on that policy and check what you are covered for......I have been endorsing the ice house policies with content coverage to cover things that might get stolen while you are away from the house....i.e generator- vexilars-fishing poles....

The reason that I have an RV policy is because I had my agent check for me and you may be surprised about what your homeowners policy won't cover. One thing I wanted covered was damage to my wheel house if it came off of the hitch on my pickup and flipped in the ditch. Homeowners won't cover a loss like this. I don't remember all of the reasons I have an RV policy, but it isn't because I like paying extra premiums. I guess what I'm saying is, if you think your howmowners policy covers everything you may want to do some checking.

This is exactly what my agent told me as well. I paid a lot for my wheelhouse, and don't want to replace it out of pocket if it is an insurable issue. I also have an RV policy.

I owned an insurance agency for 22 years and my company had two ways to cover fish houses depending on the type of house. As stated here by many a wheel house we insured as an RV onto the auto policy. This was done because it was licensed through the State and fell under the utility trailer classification. A skid house we covered under the homeowners policy as personal property. This also included the contents and was subject to the policy deductible just as your dwelling or contents would be. With the cost of some of these houses and the potential not only for a mishap on the road but theft or vandalism on the lake it is a wise coverage and premium well spent. Good luck and hang on. Bill

One other item on the insurance of a fish house. A wheel house that would come loose from the towing vehicle would cover damage to ANOTHER PERSON OR PROPERTY from the liability portion of your auto policy. The damage to the fish house itself would fall under the addtional coverage of that item as stated in the prior post. Bill
