BLACKJACK
Just got back from visiting the in-laws in Wisconsin last weekend so I had plenty of time to catch up on my reading and went thru some issues of 'Deer and Deer Hunting' that I hadn't read yet. I'd highly recommend it to anyone that likes deer hunting and that wants to learn more about deer. They have a lot of scientific articles on deer biology and behavior written by biologists that are very informational. For instance in one of the issues they told about a study on whether culling small 'inferior' bucks is really beneficial (their conclusion was that it doesn't help, by the time that 'inferior' buck hits four years old, it will have the same rack potential as any other deer). They cover a lot of the same issues we debate on this site, plus articles on food plots, hunting, etc. But the key is that the info is from biologists and researchers, not Joe Blow's opinion. Well worth the money.

Musky Buck
Thanks BlackJack for the bit on culling inferior bucks. I've told my buddies for 20 years that is just an excuse for shooting a yearling and they tell me it helps the herd. I know of 1 buck's life history. 1st year, 1 horned fork. 2nd year, odd looking larger 6 point, 3rd year when shot, 8 points pretty thick rack and long tined, 195 pounds dressed and 20 inch spread, the neighbor mounted this one. This buck had a blemish or scar on his front left shoulder or we wouldn't have known any of this. If I would've wiped him out in year 1 or 2 my neighbor would've missed out on his personal best.
