Oneida lake ice

Recommended Posts

Went out off Lewis Point this morning at 6AM, Marked quite a few fish and was able to do battle with a 25.5" eye with my pannie rod with 3lb test, talk about a fun fight. Took me somewhere between 10-15 mins to ice him, but was well worth it. Got some pics I'm going to try an post. Also met up with Cali, Walleyeboy and his dad Bill, fished with WB and his dad till 1PM. Action was slow but lunch was great as WB and his dad treated me to fresh cooked venison hogies on the ice. Thanx again guys for a great lunch!!

Fished messenger shoals this morning with my buddy and not one bite between the two of us. Others we talked to suffered the same fate so its looks like it was just one of those days. Highlight of the day was meeting another member of the wack pack. Met Otis in the parking lot when we went in. I know some of you will have something to say about that being a "highlight". Good to meet you Otis may be able to get out on Thurs or Fri, if so, I'll stop by to say hello if you're out there.

It was nice meeting up with otis, Wb and Bill. . Sniper showed up later with that dandy eye. Nice fish Al. I started markin alot of fish just after you left Otis. I couldnt get any biters tho. The big O got me to jump on my way back in as she let loose one of her better Snap, crackle, pops. Actually saw the new crack form about 10 feet in front of me. Beutiful day to be out.. Oh yea caught 2 whites and that was it..

I would love to hook up on Oneida with you Pman, Maybe this week. Keep me in the loop as to where you are going and where we shall meet. That lake is either feast or famine...mostly famine for me. Last year, I had no problem going out and Whacking my limit of Waldos...this year in 5 trips, I have landed 3 keepers, one being 26.5 and FAT. The other 2 were around 18-19. About 7 or 8 that were 7 inch Pinners! I did get into some nice Perch with Iceman on day off the Beach though. I am not giving up by any means though. I am trying to hit it in the AM with someone...anyone want to go and sit on the Ice and stare at a very expensive Flaher that doesn't have a hook set option crazy

AW sounds real good, looking forward to it. Hoping to get out on Thurs or Fri. Otis mentioned that he might be out then too, so maybe we can hook-up. You are exactly correct about Oneida -she is a tough lady to figure out. In the exact same areas (holes) my buddy hammered them on Sun, we did squat. He called me from the ice on Sun with this super encouraging report and thats all I could think about. Couldn't wait to get out Monday morning only to discover that the fish were gone or not interested. Have a good day today.

Walleyeboy, are you going fishing tomorrow to oneida lake, I was told you were. not having a phone makes it hard to find out. I don't like the weather report for tomorrow 10 to 15 mph with gusts to 30. Should have gone today but the car had a noisy exhaust so I got that fixed instead.

Fished the beach with sniper 7-11 this am. Got 1 white right off the bat and then sniper wacked a good perch. Shortly after I iced my first legal eye of the year at bout 8:15 on the one tip up I put out. Cut my line as it was comeing up thru the hole. Had to do the 2 hand jab into the hole and grab him/her. Measured in at 20". That was it for the morning. Marked very few fish all morning.. Nice day to be out tho..

Not sure what happened to you AW but you didnt miss much...

walleye boy,Reports of good to excellent walleye and perch catches are coming in from Dunham and Frenchman Islands, Buoy 121 and to the east at Lewis Point. Most anglers are jigging with Swedish Pimples dressed with a buckeye minnow or a jigging Rapala enhanced with bait. The sonar is also accounting for a few walleyes. Yellow perch are responding to mousies and spikes fished with more finesse than the typical heavy handed jigging for walleyes.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
