Shanty towns near you....

So this weekend I look out at Chisago and Green and OMG!!! the shanty towns are HUGE, Ive never seen so many houses out there, and they sure look like they are srawled out acrost all the "hot" area's. I am seeing people on "new" spots all over the lakes and the spot on the spot is a football sized area. I dont think anyone could get near some of the spots like in previous years. Am i just seeing it around here or are others noticing it on lakes near you?...

i was on green today..heres a pic of one of the areas..it doesnt look like a huge area but if you look in the background ya can see the houses go for a ways

Hall in Fairmont is crazy every year. I will try to snap a picture next time I go by there.

Yah thats what im talking about, I wonder how the first guys that got out there and were set up, Drive to there house with out driving by the front door of another shack!

yea its crazy, there were 3 towns that i came on the east side, all bigger than a football field....on a side note today was the first day i went out there and sorry to sidetrack but i wasnt graphing anything and left the lake after trying many areas(went to martin and caught a couple). on GREEN i saw some people catchin a few bass. id like to catch a few crappies and maybe 'eyes. is it a ton better at night out there, and how deep lol?? im catchin small crappies in 14 fow on martin

Up here in Detroit Lakes we have about 2 feet of hard snow on the lakes making driving almost impossible. A few area lakes have plowed roads to local hotspots. As you can imagine everyone and there brother are pulling their houses into the same area. I will take a picture the next time I get out to mine. But it is insane.

nothing wrong with shanty towns, pop holes around the edge of the set ups and you will usually find the fish

It's the economy. Compare the cost of ice fishing to going to a movie or god-forbid a Vikes game...

Was out on Pokegema the other day and there were a ton of houses. Crazy!! Green has more houses now than i have seen since the $1 drive out was around

Dito 516, I have only been hard water fishing a couple years now but Waconia seems to have blow up from I remember just 5 years ago! I was out there last night showing the wife the houses and she was blown away by it ...

We fish Green a few times a year. WE set up on the edge of the shanty town on the west end of the lake and sight fish usually. We get a few eyes there at dusk. Couple nice ones too. I will be out there tomorrow in a black four man pop-up with some guys.
