spring bobbers

I used the metal ones made by HT. They are excellent for pan fishing rods. Cut the spring bobber in half, slip it through the tip, wind thread around the bobber and apply clear finger nail polish. They are very durable. My brother can't even break them!!!!

The best I have ever used or found is the St Croix spring bobber. It works great and never seems to ice up as the tip is large enough.

One can also push or pull out the spring to change the tension for a change in lure weight.

For me, hands down the best on the market that I have seen or heard off.

I recently purchased an easy bite bobber. It works great, but I have only been using it with a buckshot spoon so far. It is kind of annoying when jigging it because it flops around, but that is the only thing I don't like about them. They are a little spendy, but they do work if anyone is wondering.

KMR, on the easybite HSOforum I noticed they recommend using them on Medium to Med-Hvy rods, which I thought was odd since if I am fishing finicky panfish I am likely to have an UL rod. I they only made to fit bigger rods, thus only good for a Walleye (maybe Perch) rod?

The reason they have the on a bigger rod is probably due to the weight. The easybite bobbers would not do well on a ultralight rod and actually would defeat the purpose.

After all the easybite is detecting the bite, just like an ultralight rod would. You could attach the easybite to a broom stick and set the hook, that part won't make much difference, it's the detecting the bite that is it's specialty.

yes i actually have it on a more stiff rod with a bigger diameter tip. if you use too light of a rod with a small diameter tip, the clamps for the easy bite will not grasp the rod tip at all. the rod I have it on is what I would typically use for walleyes, but it works for crappies too. i had a pig last night on a north metro lake that came off my easy bite setup. but i also caught a 7 incher on the same setup. really you can fish any species with a medium to medium-heavy rod as long as you are using a spring bobber or a float to detect the bite. I usually have 4 rods that I bring out. two lights or ULs, one medium, and one old heavy rod that I only use large/heavy lures with. on one of my light rods i use a slip bobber, the other a spring bobber, and the medium has the easy bite. all of these rods get used while crappie fishing. i hate to tie on a lot of different jigs, so i put 3 completely different lures on each rod and then switch accordingly. this way i only need to re-tie if i want to switch colors on the same lure or change sizes.

I have been using the "panfish" (or whatever it is called) spring on my new TB sweetthing plus. Love it, just today helped me pick up some crappies on the up bite that I would have otherwise missed. This is not a mushy spring, which is awesome.
