Question about Bow fishing line

I have some 25 pound test Trilene Big game mono, and I was wondering if this would work with my Bow fishing setup. Will it be strong enough? I will be using a reel mounted to the bow. Thanks for any tips.

No that will not be strong enough. what kind of reel are you useing?

maybe if you were using a bow with a 10 lb draw, lol. Just joking around, but you will need more than that.

You are better off buying the (usually) white cord style string.

I would recommend going to a sporting goods store and buying they strongest bowfishing line they have. I personally like 200 lb test. It's no fun to lose a $10-15 arrow because the line snaps.

try 80 to 100 pound braded line,Decoy cord works for BIG fish like Gar in the south.I get carp over 30 # and some pushin 40 with 80 lb powerPro

Ok thanks, This is my first year bow fishing so just thought I would check. I was going to use a zebco reel, but it might not be big enough, so I might have to get a bigger reel.

I have the 150# and haven't snapped it yet, but my buddy snapped his 100# one time last year and now he went up to 200# line and he likes it quite a bit.

A buddy used to use the old Zebco 888 at it worked ok. But you may want to go to the AMS retriever if you decide to get serious about it.
