tigerbalm2424
I have never fished the mississppi in a boat but i really need to get some bass fishing in. I grew up in woodbury and actually visited friends frequently on Grey Cloud Island about 100 yards from the river but never fished it. Anyone been down to pool 2 this spring? How bad would it be in a 1650 fish hawk?
Sandmannd
Was just down there on Sunday. Went out of Lillydale and got one carp. My first time on the river. It was just nice to be fishing out of the boat again. You can look here Mississippi-River Pools 2-3 for more information as well.

Daze Off
tiger -I lost a prop last year trying to get my Lund Explorer 1675 into Grey Cloud slough so I think you might have "issues" with yours too. Only way I have successfully gotten back in there is with others in bass boats or jet boats at speeds exceeding 50 mph and a lot of "pucker factor".It is definately worth getting in there if you can - at least it will be in a couple of weeks when the water warms a bit more. There are other more accessible backwaters between there and Lion's Park where I generally put in where you can certainly do well for both LM and SM. Good luck! Nick Kuhn
There will be plenty of obstacles to throw around no matter where you fish.
Ray Esboldt
lake, What route did you take? Did you try to run the Grey Cloud slough? There is a different route to get back there. However, you still need run some ultra shallow water. I usually push pole part of it, but it is way easier than running the slough. Look at a map and it will be pretty obvious. The slough is not really navigable under normal conditions anymore.I was on Pool 2 on Sunday. We caught 2 largemouth and missed a couple. I would say if you're in the right place right now you can catch some fish. Maybe even quite a few.
Daze Off
Ray -If you meant me, I have only tried to get back in there off the main river channel starting south and moving along the east bank until the golf course and then cutting directly for the bridge (if that makes any sense). We always figured that since the homeowners had some pretty fair sized boats along that shore it must be navigable and it has been for the shallow runners anyway. God help you if you come off plane until you come to the bridge though....Only other way I can even think of is through the culvert off Moore Lake (I think that is the water on the other side of the culvert). That culvert looks pretty hairy too and the water is pretty swift through there although I did talk with someone recently who said he went through it.If I don't catch a ride with someone who can run shallow I'll just hit some of the other backwaters but that one is my favorite.
