Lens questions.

Looking to finally buy my first pair of quality sunglasses, Costa del mars... I have a few questions.

Is there a big difference between the 400 glass and 580 glass?

What would be the best all around lens color? I was thinking amber or possibly grey.

Amber is great for lower light, the Grey are better for bright sun... I just ordered both in the Man O war frames.. .while I like the clarity and quality of glass lense, I still prefer the lighter plastic lenses...

The amber might give you a better edge on bottom content or floating logs while boating.

Deitz, so you still go with the plastic lenses? Is there a significant weight difference between the glass and plastic? Im going with the frigate, similiar to the man o war.

So would amber or grey make a good all around color? If neither are, what would be a good color to choose?

I had the exact same question yesterday -- is there a big difference between 400s and 580s? Besides the price.

As I was trying to figure it out, I started gettting buyers guilt. So before I changed my mind about Costas, I placed an order for Man O Wars w/ the 400 lens - amber.

I hope it was the right choice.

I feel the weight difference.. But then again, I LIVE in my sunglasses during the summer.. I fish just about every day, for quite a few hours. I live in them... And the plastic lense feel better for me.

If I had to pick one color it would be vermilion, or grey... Not the amber, just to bright if you are in high sun.

I went from a plastic lens in my cheap sunglasses to the glass green mirror 580 (amber base) Fathom from Costa and I don't notice the weight difference at all. They're still very lightweight. I've had them on for 8-10 hours at a time and they're comfortable. I may have to pick up a pair of the blue mirror 580 (grey base) as well.
