hi folks

I'm looking at buying on outdoor swingset for my 2 yr old. Not looking to spend thousands (i.e. Rainbow) but probably $500 or so.

Anyone have any input or gone thru this lately?

I'm having difficulty judging the quality on the Toysrus vs Menards vs any other version. To be honest, they are all starting to look the same to me, buy Toysrus seems to be winning on price.

I bought a kit at Menards that included plans, bolts and some accessories. I bought around $300-$400 worth of lumber and put together a 10-foot by 4-four tower and two-legged swing arm in about a day. I also built a separate sandbox to keep it off the ground, added the slide and build steps to replace the ladder.

I just got a good one of craig's list for $50. Had to take it apart to move it which turned into a little hasle. It wouldn't come apart so we had to move the tower end over end and haul it home. Then up a hill. Hard work, but I saved a ton of money. They are all over on there this time of year if you wanna save some cash. For $500, you can find really nice used ones that sell for close to 2 grand new.

I bought a kit last year from fleet farm and then the lumber from menards. Total cost was just under 500 and it is very nice. Two swings, a swimging bar thing, hanging rings, a climbing rope. a tower, slide. The kids love it.
