Badger
I agree that the, "at least we won a SB" comment is used too often and when it doesn't fit in the conversation. I don't agree with GB fans that say you can't trash talk if your team hasn't won a SB. When Lovie Smith became the Bears coach , his goal was to beat Green Bay (and he did). The Bears are the Packers top rival (and vice versa). The Bears/Packers fans think it's a successful season if they can beat each other twice in the regular season.I enjoy watching good football players like Adrian Peterson, Winfield & the Williams boys. I look forward to seeing Allen play this year as well. I don't think the Favre/Packers failed last year. They were the youngest team in the NFL, went 13-3, won the division and played the NFC championship game. "Embarassing flames" may be a little harsh with the season Favre had.I look forward to another great year of football. The purple should do very well this year! tisosy11
A great season ending in playoff dissapointment at the hands of Favre. Nothing we're not use to seeing the last 10 years...Go Vikes!
Badger
I agree with Fishguy....many teams have great seasons without winning the superbowl. Would you be happy if the purple had a season this year like the pack did in 2007? I think it would be a major accomplishment for them.
huntnfishsd
Badger, I agree 100%. If the Vikes have a year like the Packers did last year, I will be very happy. As a Viking fan, my realistic goal is to win the North and then make a playoff push. I have set my hopes too high before only to be let down! So this year I am hoping for 12-4 and a North crown! We have to beat the Packers twice though!!
otto_man
Hey tisosy11, name one year that the Vikings made the playoffs that wasn't a disappointment on how it ended?!The goal is winning the Superbowl and the Packers might have a few...

In fact his career ended on that note, did it not? It was a good thing though, I am glad the Giants went to the Super Bowl, the Pats woulda steamrolled the Pack, and I was really getting sick of hearing that perfect season talk. ANYFISH
I love this conversation between vikes and pack fans. The truth be told that neither the 08 Vikings or the 08 Packers have won a superbowl, because it hasn't been played yet! What happened years ago has no bearing on how good these 08 teams will be. It is all up to T. Jack and Aaron Rodgers, best QB will have the better team.By the way GO VIKINGS

I hope this don't end up being the truth, because truth be told - Rogers might just be the better QB here!!! Don't know yet, but he very well could be better than TJack. I hope other variables will come into play like best RB and/or best Dline will have the better team!!!
huntnfishsd
well, the vikes can run the ball and can stop the run, obviously. the success of this team will depend on the ability of tjack to manage the game and make a few big plays here and there and how our defense holds up against the pass. tisosy11
Well 2004 comes to mind. I wasn't disapointed in how that season ended.
tisosy11
t-jack will be just fine. Hes learning and has more experience that a-rod.With some receivers that catch the ball expect T-jack to get more wins as a starter!
ANYFISH
The reason I say this is because it was proven last year that defences could focus on the run and stop it. The vikes need T-Jack to be able to exploit these defensive sceams. If he can the Vikes will do just fine.A. Rodgers is piloting a 13-3 team from last year. A team that does have adequite receivers and a running back that if he can duplicate his late season performace is very good himself. The pack defence was adequite.I think (biased of course) the vikes will have the upper hand. But I think the QB play will be the key.
huntnfishsd
Absolutely QB will be key. Early in the year, I think teams will stack the box and make Rodgers and T-Jack prove that they can make plays. If they can, then defenses can't cheat up so much and the running game will take off.
Badger
You beat the Pack in the 1st round, but the Eagles sent you home in the 2nd. That wasn't disapointing? Were you disapointed in the 1998 season when Atlanta beat you in OT to go to the SB?Were you disapointed in the 2000 season when the Giants beat you 41-0? The worst route in NFC championship history? 1998 & 2000 were great seasons for the Vikings, even though they lost those games. I'm sure you enjoyed watching them until they lost....my point about the Packers season last year
Caesarfishinguytoo
I think what we are missing here is in the end it isn't going to be whether T-Jack or Rodgers is the better QB. It is going to be whether Booty or Brohm is the better qb.
nolte
The one thing that both young QBs have going for them is they don't have concrete tendencies burned into film for every Dback to see. A lot ot times QBs have success and then opposing CBs get that stuff figured out and shut them down. They then have to modify some things or mask it to get success again. I think a QB learns a lot by watching, studying and NOT being tossed into the fire from the get go. The team learns a LOT from the QB once he is tossed in the fire. tisosy11
Yes 1998 and 2000 i was extremely dissapointed. 2004 we got into the playoffs and beat a division champ...a nice piece of work and we were only a few plays away from taking down McNabb and his eagles...It will be nice to see T-Jacks progression game 1 in lambeau...he threw his first nfl TD up there and hopefully can get 1 in victory!
