BLACKJACK
We have a 8 acre pond below our house and with the spotting scope it was great duck watching over the weekend with the cold and snow, it froze back up so that the ducks were concentrated in 2-3 spots. A bunch of ringnecks, mallards, teal, shovelers, mergansers, wood ducks, coots, a couple pair of canvasbacks, and geese. There is also a 1/2 acre island in the middle and I counted 4 canada geese hens nesting, they sat it out thru the 8 inch snow. One nest appears to be in trouble, with the snowmelt and rising water, the waterline is creeping closer and closer, about 4 foot away last night with more melt coming today. Also had two swans on the pond Sunday. Last night I checked several wood duck houses and two of them had eggs in them!Spring is happening!!

fishgutz77
I spotted 7 greater bills this week on a pond next to hwy 25 between buffalo and monticello. This pond had everything but pintails on it. even the drake shoveler is great looking bird.there was 20-30 lesser scaup but the large ones were really cool to see. Dean Schellinger
BWT are a dime a dozen around St. Cloud area right now, very cool bird, to bad they don't have that kind of color in the fall. And that would be awesome to see some Greater Scaup, one duck that I have never positively identified in the wild, although I wouldn't doubt I have seen a few zip by. Scott M
Lots of divers spotted on my trip up to the Rainy this weekend. The number of cormorants buzzing around 4 Mile Bay on Lake of the Woods blew my mind.
