New Boat

Regardless of all of MM's whining about the problems with his old boat, I know some people that have Tundras and are very happy with them.

I've fished out of them several times, as recently as a trip to Lac Seul last fall, and I have several good things to say about them.

I wouldn't say they are one of the top 3 aluminum boats that are so popular around here........ but I also wouldn't let one over-advertised horror story scare me off either.

I like to look at it this. If it floats, you're a winner!! Some are more suited for particulars but as long as it runs good, floats, and you like it, That is what matters!! I have seen people with 40 thousand dollar boats get skunked on days when people in a 500 dollar skidunk boat limit out. Remember it is not the boat that catches fish.

Shoot me an email....

I personally feel Trackers get an abnormal about of rough talk on here.

My email is in my profile, just click on my name.

I run an 18' Tracker Targa, and may know where you can get a good deal on a new non-current Tundra....

No question, the best aluminum boat on the market!! I'll put mine over a Lund, Alumacraft, or Crestliner any day. I even shopped glass and I'm still much happier with the Tundra. It's set up better and handles anything I throw at it (and I'm tougher on a boat than 99.9999% of people on this board). I guess the only downside is I'm not in it right now! grin.gif

My 2 cents, pull the trigger...

I have a Tracker just not a Tundra. It's no problem for us to have 4 people fish out a 16 footer so long as everyone is limited to just 2 rods on board. Never had any problems with it. Biggest con is probably the speedometer doesn't work at speeds lower than 5, so if you are looking at a precise speed for trolling you probably won't get it. The other con is you can't till the motor all the way out of the water.

FYI-I don't think you'll find a stock speedometer that does...or one that's completely accurate for that matter. You're better off using GPS for trolling speeds.

I currently have a 1995 tracker with a 2000 mercury 40 4 stroke on the back. I love the boat, but I am starting a not for profit guide service for father, son/ mother, daughter groups. I hope to be working with the YMCA and big brother little brother programs in the future. So I felt moving up to an 18ft would be best. I have been talking to Matt a bit and he is full of great knowledge. If you ever get the chance to stop in to thorne bros say hi he is a great guy. anyway I have been looking at boats for 4 months and I like what I see. I didn't mean to start a war just wanted info from owners of the boat here on the HSOforum. It will be a few more weeks before i decide so please feel free to post more comments. Also I will be putting my boat up for sale soon so keep an eye out if you are interested!

Sounds like a good cause Bobersdown. I hope it all works out for you.

BTW, my dad is looking for a boat similar to what you have to leave at the cabin. If you do decide to sell look me up. I haven't posted a ton lately but I still check back now at least weekly.
