jjohnson5150
The first thing I do is air dry it out. Then I put it in a corner of the garage long end up. It goes flat against the wall & is secured with a bunjee cord.
Will
i spray mine down with the hose, then make sure it's 100% DRY.then i store it up on a rack in the back of the garage(covered)this has worked for me over the years. make sure that you don't leave anything inside that attracts critters. wishing for walleyes
I clean ,dry then remove the canvas.I then store up above my garage door.I have eyebolts and pulleys and can pull it up by myself. Here`s a picture of the tub and poles stored on the ceiling. There is 4 eyebolts on each side. The 4 center eyebolts have ropes to tie it up there. cliffy
I just clean it out and put it away in the garage. I am in the process of finishing my garage and came across a pretty cool storage unit from another FMer. See pic below. It is the perfect size for my Yukon and it holds up to 250lbs. Just crank it up or down.
Ice Hole
That picture is the RacorPro Heavylift. I've got one for my Otter Lodge, and it works great. When I want to go fishing, I lower it down, back the truck up, and push it right onto the truck. When I'm done, just push it back on, crank it up, and the fish house and gear is always out of the way.
cold one sd
I set it up to dry it out for a few days and store it in my wheel house.
SSSTaxidermy
Do what others have mentioned above. Spay off with hose, dry completely. If critters could be an issue, buy a box of dryer sheets and load your portable wih them. It keeps them away.I really like the crank up and down storage system! Aces In The Hole
Where could I find one of these crank down lifts? It looks really nice.

cliffy
I live in the Fargo/Moorhead area and couldn't find one in any of our big box stores....so I ended up buying it on-line and paid 99 bucks...including shipping. I would assume you might have better luck finding one in the Cities.....but the internet is always worth checking out. I should add that the particular web-site I bought mine from had free shipping offer. I cant post the HSOforum on this forum but just to give you a hint....its a HSOforum well known for book sales and its name is derived from a river or region in South America. Dan Brelje
If you don't end up storing it in the air i would suggest you but some fabric softener sheets in it to keep the mice out.
Aces In The Hole
Thanks for the info. I'll check that internet site out. They always have good deals on there.

jwhjr
I have a shelf in the front of my garage that I built to put my portable on, but because of the weight of the portable and the height of the shelf I can't get it on the shelf by myself. I end up keeping my shack in the back of my truck all winter. I've been meaning to pick up one of the pulley systems; thanks for the tip on the HSOforum. I'll keep my eye on it to see if it comes back down to $99.
Ice Hole
Like the others mentioned, check out the internet. That's where I got mine, $129 with free shipping. I was a little skeptical at first as my portable with gear in it is heavy, but the HeavyLift is well-made and handles it without a problem. Sandmannd
Anyone ever spray canvas water proofing on theirs? Just curious if that is something to do to them or not?
MNcanepole
Yes and it works. I think it's about $6 or $8 bucks a can. If it's a single one can should be enough.
jigginjim
I made a lift to hold my duck boat in the rafters in my garage. I can do the same with ice shelters.
BobberTom
I store mine and a buddies at my work warehouse. No mice worries there.
FrontenacPike
I attach it to the ceiling in my garage using 4 0-bolts and two ratchet straps. Mice are an issue where I live so I put mine in the middle away from any rafters or studs mice could use to get to it. So far so good. Very cheap and very effective.
