Bob Horn
Ferny, did you notice a difference in the black mickey`s or white? I`ve heard that the black is one step down from the white. Fish On
Hossienda
Just have to throw in my low cost alternative. I have a nice pair of Rocky boots with 800 grams of thinsulate, but have always struggled with cold feet no matter what sock combo I tried. Now I just go with a thin liner sock, plastic grocery bag and a wool sock over that. I read about it on this site last year and it struck me as too simple, but it works great for me.-Hossienda
jimBo
That is correct Black is a little less -0 protection. The white is more. Both are a good boot. and black is a little cheaper. At most places. jimBo
Bob Horn
Do you thing the black will be ok? I just got a pair today in the mail. I asked if there was a difference and they told me no. Is it worth the trouble to return them or should I just keep them? The white where on back order until Dec.24th. Fish On
P Gottshall
Here's a hint I've heard, but haven't tried - spray your feet with anti-perspirant.Another thing I do is to carry a 1" x 6" to put my feet on, off the ice. A block of styrofoam would probably be better if it wouldn't get broken.I wear 800g Rocky's, & my feet are always cold. I do wear a good pair of wool socks, which helps. I'm getting good boots for my two sons this year, now that their feet have probably quick growing (19 & 17) (years not shoe-size!) I plan to get at least 1200g for them. Boots seem to get a little pricey over 800g though.Paul
Northlander
Im telling ya Ice Kings, wicker socks and a good wool blend sock. Maybe some carpet under the liner if room. I wear a 14 shoe but get a 15 ice king and do as above. Never have cold feet anymore. I think a key is extra room for movement and air flow. tonkabach
I also wear a size 14 shoe. I tried on a pair of 14 Ice Kings at Gander Mountain and they didn't fit. Since that was the largest size there I went with a pair of Irish Setter Deer Trackers with 1000 grams for $100. Anyone had any luck with these? Walleye Guy
Gander Mountain sells boot insoles that are made of those charcoal activated hand warmers. A buddy of mine bought a couple pairs for deer hunting this year (minus 10 on opening morning)and he said they worked great. Almost too good if you are walking a lot. They go for $2.99 a pair.
