Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Well, its probably too late for this advice, but here is my experience with the Vegas race as compared to the half dozen or so others I've been too. When I go to a NASCAR race, its a big event and a huge part of the fun is camping at the track and enjoying the festival atmosphere. When I go to Vegas, its fun because its Vegas. In a weekend you don't have time to do both justice. Hopefully you are staying long enough to both, and if so then my advice is get to the track for as much of the time as you can. Qualifying day Friday, Cup Practice and Nationwide race Saturday and Sunday the Cup race. For sure give yourself plenty of time to go through the merchandise trailers and the display areas, there are lots of cool things to see at the track.

I will also give you this little tidbit for Vegas, traffic out to the track is a bear on Sat and Sun. It took us a long time to get that last little bit as you leave town to get out to the track.

Your first race will definitely be memorable!

Right on lawdog, couple other things---

Bring winter or heavy coat, warm weather clothes and rain gear. Last time I was there we wore winter coats on friday, rained on and off all day saturday and wore shorts on sunday, but cools off fast as the sun goes down.

We purchaed 3 day passes for the busses when we were their. You can get on by any of the bus stops and they take to the track threw the Air force base,so doesn't take to long. Sunday you do have to wait awhile when leaving the track, but better then driving. Plus you can use the buss to get around town instead of taxi. I believe if you go on Nascar site and click on tracks - Vegas there is some info there, otherwise I would google it.

Assume you have hotel lined up? We stayed at condo behind Treasure Island, had to go to a time share meeting one morning, but after they find out your just there for the race they don't bother you too much. Half the price of a hotel room Plus we got free tickets to some of the shows.

Good Luck and have fun----GO TONY GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just checked the nascar site, go to tracks, then visitor guide that will direct you to a web site with the info. $60 for a 3 day pass, well worth it I think.

My wife and I were going to go to LV this year for our first ever race, but the budget just wouldn't allow it. We're saving already to go next year, please report how it was etc. We'll probably make a week of it so we have time for both, and we have friends that live there to stay with. This year has happened yet, and I already can't wait until next year grin.gif

More than we had in the "fun" fund at the time grin.gif. We're already socking it away for next year, so it should be a go.

I will be out there this weekend for the 2nd year in a row. Tell you the truth I am not into Nascar 1 bit dont know anything about the drivers. I thought it was great seeing it live but could never sit in front of the TV and watch it. Our seats we 1st row right at the start/finish line. Race fans started rolling in the parking lot around 6am, we had breakfast going by 6:30-7am with lots of Bloody's until the start of the race. Stayed after the race we deep fried a turkey and had dinner while everyone was leaving the race.
