Optimax repair shop

I'm looking for suggestions on a shop to take my Optimax in for repairs.

Here's the syptom. I have a 2006 200 Optimax and on top end it starts to stall after about 1-2 minutes and I have to back off to 1/2 to 3/4 throttle to keep it running smooth. It'll run smooth all day there but when I try to open it up again it'll do the same thing. The warning light stays on as soon as the key is turned on as well.

Here's the issue. I took it in to a reputable dealer here in Central MN and they had it for 1 1/2 weeks and couldn't find a thing. The guy didn't seem too "in the know" on Optimax's. So now I'm a little gunshy on where to take it if this well known dealer and service department can't fix my problem.

Any suggestions on where to take it? I'd drive across the state if I have to just to get it running right before the season.

Thanks.

Jeff

Since your in the Brainerd are, I once had a 40 horse Merc repaired at Wheeler Marine up by Loongville. It's a small mom and pop kind of operation, good service at a resonable price. Guy did a great job trying to keep the cost down yet repair it correctly. The motor ran great for 3 years then I traded it last spring.

I am fortunate enough that I havn't needed sevice on my 150 Opti yet, but if I did I would give them a call. Explain your situation and ask him what he thinks?? And what if he fails to fix it??? I'm sure he'd give a resonable price.

I have a 2006 150 Opti that did similar...I'd open up to 4200 rpm and could set a watch by the amount of time it would take to stall...at a little slower speeds it would take a little longer, but still sputtered. Under 3000 rpm, no problems.

CPM in Shakopee had it for nearly 6 weeks total last summer: They replaced over $1500 in parts (new fuel rail, fuel pump, a number of valves), had 22 shop hours, and still no fix. Finally I got the call...one of the techs (they had 3 on it at the time!) saw the fuel hose (between the ball and the motor) suck in. Replaced and the problem solved. What, a $15 part? Talk about frustrating!

Not sure if its the same as your problem, but sounds similar...especially since you have a 2006 motor and probably the same hose?

Anord, im sure that some just dropped the ball and didnt get it taken care of. If you ever need anything through our store, please let me know. I work at the shakopee location, and would be glad to take care of any problem or problems that might be out there.
