Heard nothing of it...but hope to God that it's not true.

Fished Yellow from 7a-7p last Saturday for Muskies. Didn't see a fish all day - no follows nor even a snake. Might as well have been a dead sea.

Managed to get quite a ways back in the Little Yellow River - no fish, but still a great time.

I am heading to the Holcombe Flowage from the 20th thru 29th. I can't wait. Where are you going to be fishing and what are you going to use?

We are going to use more bait than we have ever used in the past to see if it will get us a better result. We want to try 2 night crawlers, 3 chubs, and 1 more night crawler all on a 8/0 hook. It should be interesting.

Did I hear correctly that the Mille Lacs band netted Yellow a few weeks a ago,,,, and quite a few LMB and other fish got into the nets,,, died and were thrown in the garbage as they were not the targeted species,,,Any one have more info about this as I heard it second hand

My neighbor watched them set the nets on the west shore of big yellow before sunset. They set 6 nets out to about 16 feet. Came back at 7am and he watched them pile fish into coolers. He said they had some pretty big fish in the nets. I guess Sheriff an dnr was at launch to keep things civil but it happened overnight so few noticed anything

I fished sturgeon opener all weekend. Our friend caught one 30" on Saturday. We caught nothing. The only other fish I saw were 2 small 24"s from this one small older green bass boat. Anyone else see or hear of any fish being caught?

Finally netted a 37" on Sunday, a very small one, then a 55" was netted in boat next to me. I spent some time finding them tho. Nuttin on Saturday at all. I marked a bunch but they were halfway up the water column. Then Sunday morning I marked them on bottom and started getting bites.

I think I witnessed 5 fish caught, all on Sunday morning. 3 between me and a buddy and 2 more on another boat. Other than that 55 incher nothing to write home about.

I think it will get better as we go now. All in all they really haven't been active, at least on the surface. Only one day in last couple weeks did I see much jumping, or rolling on surface. Some days they seem to be shooting up all over.

Will be out both days this weekend. good luck

While I was busy filling an archery tag this weekend, a good friend was having some action up on Yellow. Caught quite a few walleyes in the 16' range, all on crawlers. He also said the big gills were pretty active in the 10'-12' range.

I should be up early this coming Friday.

Was slow for me on Sturgeon. Fished 4 hours Sat and 6 hours early Sunday. Caught 1 small. Saw a couple boats net small ones as well. I never saw anything big. Again, I marked a lot of em.

Going to do some recon this Friday and try a couple different things. There's been a big lake fly hatch of some sort and there are big clouds of bait swimming around high.

You get out? Or anyone for that matter?

Sad day. frown After another weekend of tough fishing, I've pulled the plug on the 2013 season. Boat is in my garage getting ready for the winter hibernation. At least now I can concentrate on full time bowhunting. smile

Good luck to the rest of you who look fwd to some great fall fishing.

Thanks DonBo. Good Luck with the stick and string. I look forward to fishing this time of year simply because it's not as crowded. Was up this past weekend and caught some walleyes and panfish. Also got soaked out there on Friday morning!

Anyone know if turnover has hit on Yellow yet? Seems like this weekend for the past three years the lake has been pea soup. If anyone lives in the area and could let me know, it'd be appreciated. Don't want to waste my time.

Thanks,

Vic

Long ways from that. Water temps were still in the mid 60's last weekend. Water was a little green, but not near as bad as it's gotten in years past.

for Sturgeon, 60 was our biggest. Last Friday we caught 11. A 54 and 51, a few 40s, a few 30s..... Then cold front and I couldn't buy a fish on Saturday.

Was kind of a weird season for me. I was finding fish in new spots and not finding anything all season in some of my fav spots. Buggers can be hard to pin down sometimes.

Seems your always on the move and learning things.

I found things the same way as fish were not in spots that I have caught them over the last five years. We ended the season on Friday (tried Saturday but got blown off) with a pair of 60" fish and a 51". The big fish was a 64 and both that was something to see with two fish on that big at the same time. I wish they would extend the season and make a catch and release only.
