anyone remember this line?

When I was a kid, my grandpa used a braided line that was 20# & it was different colored about every 3 feet, it came w/ & w/ out lead core. I haven't seen it for years. I thought about putting some "camo line" on my tip-ups or maybe it doesn't really matter?

yeah I rememeber that stuff!! I just thought that my Dad took some old building supply line and used it for fishing. I guess My Dad wasn't the only one eh!!! No, I know there was some kind of line that like you said had some kind of a lead core but then again didn't baby cribs used to have lead paint?

Sounds interesting.. I've never heard of it.

I have seen in deep water fishing they use different colored line, but the line changes color about every 50 or 100 feet only.

I actually have that line on my tip ups right now. Got the tip ups from my dad and don't know how old the line is or where he got it. I haven't seen it in any stores. Stuff is probably pretty old, should probably put some new stuff on.

I remember it. Not sure but I thought it was Dacron, just a different color that they made???

Yep you can still get it. Gudebrod is the brand I get. I use it on my bait casting reels for trolling in the summer for monster pike as there is no or very little stretch in it. When you set the hook you set the hook.

yes i remember it well. loved it. its hard to find, for me anyway. now i use the 15# black line on my nord rods. if i do ever find it i will be buying it.

We used the multi-colored line on the heavy outfits for sturgeon and lake trout. I might have a collector reel in the shed with some on.

I recently inherited my Grandpa's reel, and it was spooled with that line. I remember that most of Grandpa's reels had the multi-colored line on it.

i just got my grandpa's tip ups and all of them have that colored line on it. it's still in good shape because i've used it fishing for northerns already this year and i haven't had it break...yet.
