Tip Up Light

Trust me. Do this now.

Go to Youtube. Type in 3 words. "tip up light". Watch the first video link. It's a "very simple process". The guy is hilarious, especially if you're from the south side of Chicago like I am.

Then, go to Menards and buy the lights in question. I got them for 5 bucks a pack on clearance. Come back home and follow his instructions again. Make yourself the sweetest, brightest, cheapest and best working lighted tip ups you'll ever find.

Then come back and thank me, and whoever that guy is.

I watched the video too. My only question is: do the lights have an on/off switch on them besides the proximity switch for the magnet? The guy in the video only mentioned the magnet as a way to turn them on or off.

If the magnet is the only way to turn them off that would be a problem in storage, with the lights coming on and running the batteries dead.

Didn't watch the tube...but if you don't mind getting some solid wires, some soft ones too, some tape, some D batteries and some plain old flash light bulb, you can rig it all onto your tip up. Sort of an old science project from being a kid.

It's really easy if you get that little bulb socket kit from those science projects for kids. That way you won't have to rig wires onto the bulb. Tape wire's with bulb close to tip of flag. Tape battery close to base of tip up pole. So all in all, when the flag goes up. There's gonna be wire contact on the battery so the light will come on.

You never know when a little kid's science project from your childhood could be pretty handy in your adult life.

they do not have a separate switch...they come with a small plastic strip that slips in between the batteries to break the contact...they're little watch batteries. I'm thinking that I'll either remove batteries for transportation or slip a more robust slip of some sort.

Well at least he's not leeching. Reminds me...

Let's go fishing. Come pick me up. I get there and he asks me, Do you have some spare fishing line? Sure I do, I always do. Get to the fishing spot and I give him the filler spool after seeing his pathetic 15 feet line casting. He then asks, Do you have a spare reel? Mine's not working. Sure I do, I always have a back up. So he sets my spare reel in and was trying to spool up, but spare reel is already spooled. So I stop him from line stripping. Now he asks, you've got a bobber. I'm dense, I thought he said, "Let's go fishing" not "Take me fishing." Now I'm all mad, cuz he could've just simply ask me to bring him a complete spare rod combo. Yep, his tip was broken on his rod.

But that's nothing compared to another aquiantance who didn't have a fishing license. "Hello I'm CO Bill, may I see your fishing license?" He thought he was smart and cheap carrying around expired license. What, you gonna just flash that infront of the CO's face? Citation! Needless, I don't fish with peeps like these. LOL's there's being innovative and there's being way too cheap.
