Sutty
I received a gander smoker for xmas. Been itching to use it, it sounds like even in the cold no problem? I think its a smokehouse brand, Built like a brick smokehouse it sais.... something like that. I am either going to try some salmon or some deer jerky first. Deitz Dittrich
Sutty- I would suggest you try cheeper stuff first.. till you learn the do's and donts... chicken breasts are cheep and fun to work with.. same with Turkey.. Pork steaks are another that is real cheep yet when done.. oMG... too dang tasty!I only smoke pork steaks for about an hour then finish on the grill for about 4 mins. Hammer Handle
Hello Dittrich,He bought seasoning from Mills Fleet Farm, a local butcher, and made his own.Of course, he "modified" the seasoning he bought too...so they all tasted about the same. Sutty
Good idea, I do happen to have a freezer full of salmon though :-) I got hooked on the Lake Michigan Salmon fishing and happened to Hook a few. Oh one other question, I have read online that you should put the smaller, thinner cuts on the top rack when smoking to help even it out. I thought with the whole hot air rising thing that maybe the lower racks would be cooler?
