What size of arrows?

I gave my girlfriend a compound bow for xmas. It is at a 26 inch draw length and is currently set to 35 lbs. Just wondering what size arrows to get for her set up. Her bow maxes out at 40 pounds. Thanks.

Duk- there is a lot more to it.. assuming its a med cam rather than a hard cam... using 125 field tip and a 27" arrow. If going aluminum I would shoot a 2013 or 1916... and a 600 in a carbon... a proshop will probably give you better numbers.. I would suggest you go into one and then they can ask you questions and help you pick the best shaft for her.

Is 26" her draw length? or was that just what it was set at when you got it? The first thing you'd want to do is head to a pro shop and have her draw length checked. They can also help you select the proper arrow.

For her draw length, we did the arm spand divided by 2.5 and it was pretty close to 26". Seems to be good there when she pulls it back. It is a Parker Buckshot bow if that helps for the size of arrow. Thanks guys for the info so far.

Here is an arrow sizing chart for Gold tip arrows. Just follow the directions on the left. Assuming a 27" arrow, it appears you could use ultralight 600 or any arrow in group 2. Personally I'd go with one from group 2. This is a typical chart and you'll find most arrow manufactures have some sort of arrow sizing chart like this. From there you'll need to determine what she'll mainly be using the arrows for and how much you want to spend.

I agree with taking her to a pro shop. They will make sure the bow is set up properly for her. She also may listen to their advise on shooting form better than she may listen to you.

I also agree. This really is your best bet for answering all the questions you or her may have. We can give you general information here, but nothing can substitute for the information a pro shop can give you.

like everyone has said your best bet is to go to a pro shop... theres more to just the lenght of the bow, for her to shoot trully accurate the spine of the arrow also plays a huge role. it would take me a whole page to explain and define the flex and why it is important but going to a pro shop would make it much easier on you... lenght wise however depending on the type of rest, you can cut arrows an inch to an inch and a half shorter than the draw length especailly if she is shooting feild tips only at the moment because 40 is the minium draw weight you can hunt with in many states
