8point
Ok since nobody knew this about me, I thought I would share some of my custom made turkey calls. Here 4 pot calls that I turned starting from about 2 weeks ago. This first call is a Becote with a Becote striker A Padauk with Padauk striker And Walnut and Cherry calls with the Padauk and Becote pots. The other strikers are cherry. Thanks for lookin -Kevin
Borch
Very nice calls Kevin! I love turning them too and I really like the Paduak for strikers. That glass over slate should be a sweet sounding call. I'm still probably a few weeks out before I start turning some new calls this winter. I've got some new wood to try out for strikers. Nice work! Powerstroke
How is this done? DO you need a wood lathe?
DonBo
Beautifull! Oh...if only I had the time. I have made some wing bone callers over the years. One took 2nd place at the state NWTF convention a couple years ago. Have you ever put yours into any contests? Looks like you've got it down! Great job. Borch
Quote:How is this done? DO you need a wood lathe? Yep.If any of you turned spindles or small bowls in shop class it's basicly the same process with more intricate cuts. Then with the pot you need to add a sounding board and striking surface.I've really enjoyed making them for myself, freinds and prizes for the HSO turkey contest. DonBo
Below are some of the wing bone callers I've made. If I was to enter these in a contest, or donate to a NWTF funraiser, I would hand paint turkey feathers or hunting scenes on them. Sorry, I don't have any photos of these.
