Bowtech-Tomkat??

I posted a little while ago that I was looking to get a bow for X-mas. I think I found one and was wondering if anyone has used this bow before, it is a Bowtech-Tomkat?? If anyone has could you please post your review of this bow? The price was $529 with the package. Is this to much for a beginer to spend on a bow?? Any help is greatly appeciated.

Is that a new bow? What is included in the package (be specific- it'll make a big difference in saying whether it's a fair price or not).

The are the accessories for the bow. If the brace height is 8.5", is that bad, good or doesn't really matter. I am rookie and have heard brace height can be a big deal??

A friend of mine has a Tomkat and he likes it. I can see if he'll post here. He bought it bare I think and added his own accessories. As far as price goes I think thats right in the ballpark.

Without knowing the specific rest, site, and quiver, I'd still agree with powerstroke- seems to be in the ballpark. I know a couple guys who have had that bow and liked it.

BTW, for a starter bow, I'd think you could go with a less expensive outfit and still be pretty happy. Maybe shoot it and see if you want to stick with it before you dump so much money into it. However, I think the rig you're describing would be great for you as long as you're willing to part with that kind of money.

Also, remember you'll still need arrows and a release. I'd suggest you don't skimp on the release and get a decent one.

Frummy sounds perfect to me.... You will always upgrade things and like certain things. Bowtech has good bows. I shoot a Bear Instinct and love it!

I love my truball release I bought some 10+ years ago the only thing I still have... :-)

The guy I know started with a Tomkat and then bought a Patriot the same year. He hunts with both. I really liked the bow when I used it. Its pretty forgiving for a parallel limb bow and is easy to tune.

Mine is 2 or 3 years old, I forget.

I love it and have been very happy with it. BT has great strings, I think they outlast all other factory ones.

The "package" should include the WB rest.

Good bow, but always thinking about a newer one......

Thanks for the info. fellas, keep it coming. The reason I think I might buy one that is a little more expensive than a true "beginner bow". The fact that I know I will enjoy archery and also would like it to last longer than a cheaper bow.

I bought the Bowtech Tomkat this past January and I really like the bow. I shoot a lot of 3d shoots and a ton during the season. It is a very forgiving bow. Also the quietest bow during draw in extremely cold weather between mine and my friends bows and they all have top of the line bows from other manufactures. My bow shoots around 275fps with a 29” draw set at 65lbs, Maxium 250 arrows and 100 grain field tips. I did not by the package. I was not all about the sight or the whisker biscuit that came with it. I added a Vapor trail limb driver rest. The main reason for limb driver is if you break the string connecting the rest to the bow in the field the rest is in the up position and you can still shoot. I went with the Black Gold flash Point 4 pin sight very bright but not to bright in the sun (No Halo effect). I also added a Sims-s-coil stabilizer to remove any vibration there might be in the bow. I rounded out @ about 9 hundred dollars (bow, sight, rest, 12 arrows, release and Sims-s-coil). I would recommend this to bow to anyone that is hesitant on spending over a grand for a bow with accessories. The best thing I can give you is to pick a price you can spend first then shoots bows in that price range. If you shoot the top of the line you a guaranteed to fall in love. Hope this helps.
