Auger wont start

Probably my fault, no gas when I got it out of the garage. Put a new plug in it and added sea-foam to a new mix of gas. Wont start, carb problems I would quess, any pointers?

What kind of auger and motor is on it. Most likely it is a dirty carb and it isn't getting the fuel it needs. You can take the carb apart and spray some carb cleaner into the ports. If it had adjustment screws. Make a note of where they are at. This can be done by turn the screws in until it bottoms out. Make sure to remember the number of turns it takes. Then pull everything appart. A new diaphram kit is cheap insurance. Clean everything really good and put it back together and you should be in business.

Mine did not want to fire either under the same set of circumstances as yours. I sprayed Sea Foam Deep Creep into the carb and let it soak for a hour or so gave it a couple of pulls and it started right up

Strikemaster - techumse (sp) motor. After about 30 pulls, pulled the new plug and it was bone dry which would mean your right in not getting gas?

Diphragms are dried up. It needs a carb kit.

mjgrose, In that stack on the carb is a fuel pump. Sometimes the diaphragms(part of the pump) will dry up during storage.

Take the plastic cover/air cleaner off the carb and put about 2 teaspoons of mixed gas in the throat or the carb. Give it a pull, it'll start right off the bat. It may stay running or you might have to prime it again by putting 2 teaspoons of mix gas down the throat again. Keep repeating that till it runs on its own.

Normal operation when cold is to full choke it. After it starts take some choke off and let it warm up till it'll run good with the choke off. The colder it is outside the longer you should let it warm up and the more choke time it'll need.

If you can't get it to run without being primed after a dozen tries then the carb will need a cleaning and carb kit.

Maybe over simple, but I was dinking around getting my auger started and ready and pulled to plug to check and clean it etc and put it back in and wouldn't start. Played around for a bit and found that the plug wire was not seated all the way down, I really had to push hard(much harder than on a car plug wire) to seat the thing. Two pulls later running like a champ. Wasted about 20 minutes checking fuel lines and wiring.
