Goosepride
Question for you Aqua Vu Scout Owners...I use a flasher and certainly wouldn't go fishing without it. However, I would like to add a camera to my collection. I have seen and use the nice Marcum cameras but don't really want to spend that kind of money on a camera. I would however drop $200 for a camera. Those of you with the original Scout for around $200, what are the pros and cons of this particular model? Thanks! afishrmn
The Aqua-Vu Scout is the camera that I have been using for about 2 years. I have been very happy with its overall performance. In low light conditions the camera lights are not a real big help (doesn't seem to make a difference) but from what I've seen from other cameras and been told from users of different brand cameras, that seems to be a common issue.I think you will be happy with this camera. Also, check with Cabelas. They usually will have some reconditioned cameras on sale (which is what I did) and you can save about $50.
Deitz Dittrich
The Scout is dicontinued. The no longer make it.. They make the Scout2 which retails for $299.99 and the Scout XL-50 which retails for $199.99... The XL-50 has the 7" screen and the infrared lights which dont work to well at night.. but for daylight viewing.. I really like mine!(I own the scout XL)
eurolarva
If you pan fish they are awsome. I have a flip top portable so it is nice and dark inside so the camera works real well. I would buy the 15 dollar tripod (not the 100 dollar mopod). the tripod has a rubber cork that keeps the camera from spinning that allows you to keep it pointed at your bait. If you fish in less then 20 ft of water they are fun. Deeper then that in murky water it is not worth it. Visibility is not so great unless it is real clear water. harvey lee
I have the Aqua view Scout and the XL. Both units have served me very well and for years. As far as their CS, I couldnt say as I have never had an issue witrh their camera product.
gopher_nation
I have the $15 tripod and now I wish I would have gotten the round one that marcum makes. A misplaced step could end that tripod and I'm sure I'll lose the cork one of these days. But the cameras are a lot of fun to see what your flasher is telling you. Also to see the structure. Corey Bechtold
My wife found the old Scout at a garage sale this summer and got it for 50 bucks! It is a great little unit as it doesn't weigh much and is a good way to quickly identify what I am seeing on my Vexilar. I would never spend the big money for all the bells and whistles because I use it as a tool to compliment the flasher. If I was into fishing with multiple people and wanted to see in every direction than the Quad would be a great option if I fould D.B. Coopers money. Good luck, Corey Bechtold

This way if you bump it, you won't lost the tripod. Also, I was worried about losing the stopper on the camera line, so I bougt a couple of stoppers from nature vision, $18 will get you six of them. Still haven't lost one yet.I agree with you that the MarCum camera compass looks like it would be a great product, with less problems then the ice pod. Only question is what it the largest hole it will cover???? Can it Cover the larger 10 in holes?? For $14 a guy might have to get one.
