CNY Tim Posted March 7, 2008 Share Posted March 7, 2008 Forget Saturday guys...THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BINGHAMTON HAS ISSUED A WINTERSTORM WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM EST THIS AFTERNOONTO 8 AM EDT SUNDAY.RAIN AND SNOW WILL OVERSPREAD NORTHERN AND WESTERN NEW YORK THISAFTERNOON. TEMPERATURES WILL FALL INTO THE LOWER 30S BY EARLYEVENING, ALLOWING THE MIX TO CHANGE OVER TO ALL SNOW. A QUICK 2 TO5 INCHES OF SNOW COULD FALL BY 2 AM.A LULL IN THE SNOW IS FORECAST TO OCCUR LATE OVERNIGHT,BUT THE STORM WILL RE-INTENSIFY ON SATURDAY. A BRIEF PERIOD OFFREEZING RAIN OR SLEET MAY ACCOMPANY THE SNOW SATURDAY MORNING.SNOW WILL BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES DURING THE AFTERNOON. ANADDITIONAL 3 TO 5 INCHES OF SNOW IS EXPECTED BY LATE SATURDAY. THEPRECIPITATION WILL TAPER OFF LATE SATURDAY NIGHT.SNOW ACCUMULATION TOTALS ARE EXPECTED TO BE BETWEEN 7 AND 11INCHES BY SUNDAY MORNING. SLEET AND ICE ACCUMULATION SHOULD BEMINOR.A WINTER STORM WARNING IS IN EFFECT BECAUSE HEAVY SNOW ISEXPECTED IN THE WARNING AREA. ROADS WILL BE SNOW COVERED ANDSLIPPERY...WITH POOR VISIBILITY. TRAVEL IS DISCOURAGED...UNLESS ITIS AN EMERGENCY. IF YOU MUST TRAVEL IN THE WARNING AREA...SLOWDOWN...LEAVE PLENTY OF ROOM BETWEEN YOU AND THE MOTORIST AHEAD OFYOU...AND ALLOW EXTRA TIME TO REACH YOUR DESTINATION. Shoreline is very questionable. Expect to get feet wet or wear knee boots or waders. Went in on the way out and back. Caught fish though. Needed the fix. Thunderman Posted March 9, 2008 Author Share Posted March 9, 2008 I here ya DC it stopped raining here last night just before dark .I got up this morning and it is 18* wind blowing 15mph with gusts of 30mph. I am guessing that we have about 1 or 2 inches of snow to go along with the brutal wind if it wasn't so windy I would probably go check a few spots out but I don't think thats going to happen . Got cold here last night low was 23 here and should be cloudy all day with up to an 1" of snow expected here tonight. Todd and I want to give her a go Saturday.
