The_Duckslayer
A buddy of mine just bought a lake lot and is going to put a LP tank on it for the house is is going to build. He would like to hide it off to the side. Is there a maximum distance you can run the line from the tank to the house? Thanks for any info. Take care and N Joy the Hunt././Jimbo
HOF#13
I might be wrong, but I don't think there is a real issue with how far the tank is from the house. I think the issue is how far the tank is from the road / driveway for the propane delivery truck. I know they have only so many feet of hose on the truck. In fact when we built our house 4 years ago our propane guy actually recommended putting it back out the line of sight. His only concern was keeping it within XXX feet of our driveway for delivery purposes.

Darrell Larson
Just did the same thing this fall, in regards to adding a new propane tank to our new house at the lake. I spoke with the propane supplier and he said that the 100 feet of 1/2"od copper would be just fine for our house. 1800 sq.ft and propane being the main source of heat, stove etc. Hope this helps but then again I would talk with a local person that would supply your propane and see what they say. The people I went with will supply the tank 500# for free no lease etc. just pay for the LPG. Distance they needed to fill from the access point for their truck was 70'. bottomdweller
I put a thousand gallon in ground tank in and put it ninety feet from the driveway. I believe most trucks have a hundred foot reel. Really nice not having to look at the tank.
papabear
just make sure there are no joints under ground and the pipe is sized right for the BTU and distance. Your propane company should be able to do this for you. I believe the code states no underground joints. The reason for no joints underground is the freeze and thaw may stress the joint as the line expands and contracts and then you get a leak.
