i like the r2 but in all honesty my mr cooker keeps my clam super warm...i never fish in my portable in more then a hoody...you guys would be better off getting the cheaper ports and an arctic armor suit lol.

Look closely in the picture at the jacket.I remember fishing in my old eskimo lodge at -20 temp and windy. 2 sunflower heaters going in there,ceiling all frosted up so bad it was not dripping anymore.If its below zero its insulated for me.

I think what he's saying is if you buy a warm suit, like the arctic armor one, you won't need the added weight and cost of a insulated portable. That's how I took it anyway.

that is what i meant lol...the insulated ports are neat and all but i ice fish on red, rainy, lotw, canada, ect, when its -50 and all i need is my mr cooker heater in my non insulated portable and i never wear anything more then my hoody with my arctic armor bibs on...90% of the time i have all my windows and air ports open...i don't even put my mr cooker heater past half way...ever.

that being said i sold my clam last night so i'm probably gonna get a new canvas craft r2 insulated portable....but i already got my nils, arctic armor, h20c, ect.

i was just saying if your busting your brain over a new port and your iffy if you want to spend that extra money and added weight on a port you'd be better off getting a cheaper, lighter, normal port and taking the difference in money and getting a new suit, auger,flasher or gps unit.
