BobberTom
Has anyone made their own fire starter sticks? I have a bunch of wood shavings from chain-sawing and thought it would make a good fire starter.bobber
Nymph
Place some in the paper egg cartons and cover with paraffin wax. That should work well. You could also add some pine needles. The egg cartons are easy to pack and store.
IFallsRon
Mix the shavings with some fluff out of your dryer filter and stuff it in a TP roll.

newoodhntr
I mix 5 gallon pail of saw dust with 1 gallon of hydrolic oil . No strong smell and you just put a scoop of it in a pile and build your fire over it , lasts along time and burns slow and no flare up.

Kostoglotov
Cotton balls “soaked” in Vaseline. Use a empty 35MM film canister to store
icehousebob
I use the egg carton method myself. I mix dryer lint with strands of old, weathered manilla rope chopped into short pieces and stuffed into the 12 egg compartments. cover them with melted parafin or melted candle stubs. The chopped up rope pieces act like dozens of small candle wicks. Put the whole carton in a zip-lock bag and you have 12 safe long lasting firestarters. SkunkedAgain
For camping at least, I put dryer lint in 35mm film cannisters, then fill them up with lighter fluid. For bigger fires at the cabin, my propane-fed flame thrower seems to do the trick every time
cheesehead
save the hassle of making your own by picking up a bag of tea-light candles you can get them cheap and you don't need to mess with the sawdust and wax.
