Smoke smell

How do you get rid of smoke smell from a pickup truck cab? Bought a used 2005 Chevrolet pickup and the previous owner smoked, it has been two months and I still can smell smoke when I get into pickup. I’ve tried scent spray supplied by car dealer and puck air freshener under passenger seat but nothing I have tried has worked.

Try a couple boxes of opened baking soda. just leave em in there all times.

A buddy bought a truck with the same issue, and resolved it with a thing called an "air ionizer"

I can ask him where he got it.

Otherwise, those are always issues that I iron out with the dealership BEFORE taking delivery.

Walking away from a sure sale because the truck smells like it's been smoked in, and they will sink $400 into making sure the truck doesn't smell.

Wash down all the hard surfaces and Fabreeze the upholstery.

Clean and shampoo the fabric/upholstery surfaces, then take it to a fire restoration company (Serve Pro, Service Master are a couple of franchises) and have them ozone the truck. They should have a room that they can park the truck in and open it up, then turn on their machine. Ozone machines produce oxygen with an additional molecule which 'eats up' the odor somehow (perhaps a chemist can tell us). They use the units to aid in the removal of smoke smells in houses as well.

I've heard this, but don't know if it works..

Take a large bowl and fill it with ammonia. Place it inside the truck with the windows up for a couple days..

Ionizer produces Ozone. The ammonia is a good degreaser,cleaner put a cup in a garbage bag put in your BBQ grill,pots, pans,sooty camp cook stuff---well anything 24 hours later it'll wipe clean easily no scrubbin!!

there is a cabin filter up under the dash that filters the air in the truck/car. if you go to get your oil changed,they should be able to change the filter. you will still have to clean the inside and use febreze but with a new filter, the air going through the heater/defrost won'tbe smelling like smoke.

I know they are two different vehicles, but my buddy has a car and we were looking through the manual one day for some reason. My buddy is a smoker, and he read in the manual that he should not smoke with the A/C on. The air in his car automatically circulates inside air within the car and the manual said that if you smoke with the A/C on then the smoke smell my become permanent because the smoke actually gets on the condensing unit. you have to replace the condenser to get rid of the smell, hopefully this didn't happen with your truck.
