What time slot is better?

OK... as a teacher, I have a lot of flexibility. Which time slot do you all feel is overall BEST for bass fishing? Seems there are really two main blocks of time I to fish on a free day.... I am wondering which would be most productive overall.. mainly for numbers and best action! Deitz... I bet you have some good insight into this being a teacher as well? There must be plenty of other teachers seeing this post as well.

1- Sunrise to 1pm.

2- 1pm to sunset.

I catch bass either with or without traffic because I usually work the shore lines or docks anyways... But personally, I like mornings.. But evenings make for some good top water action!!

Hiya -

Gotta say mornings. I've been thinking to myself all summer "doesn't anyone get up early to fish anymore?" I get up at 4 most weekends, and I bet I can count on one hand minus a few fingers the number of times I haven't been the first one at the ramp. I'm an early riser anyhow (it happens when you grow up on a dairy farm), but I love mornings on the lake. And I rarely have competition from other anglers, much less jet skiers, water skiers, or pontoons full of geezers out for a cruise that HAVE to drive between you and shore...

Cheers,

Rob Kimm

No doubt on the early mornings!

I hadn't been out for a couple weeks that early and was reminded how quickly summer is passing, as I hit the ramp at 4:50 Saturday and it was still dark! Kinda cool when you need the lights in the AM......but sad that the daylight is already on the decline.

However, come fall I seem to do the best smack in the middle of the day for bass, water warming during the day, warmer for me too. I love going topwater in the fall on a sunny afternoon. Nothing beats the look of a beautiful green bass in the fall sun busting a popper!

Did rob just say he is missing some fingers???

i have fished in the morning from 4-11 seems like all day but you wouldn't believe the amount of fish you can catch while it is still dark and you can still be home before lunch. So i vote earlier the better. ike

I'm a teacher as well and am's work best for me schedule wise as I have three little kids (5,3,&2). During the week I have daycare and this way I don't put my wife out as much. I'd have to agree with Dietz as far as the fish have not been pressured as much in the am and there isn't nearly as much recreational boaters, skiers, and tubers out there. I have often caught my better sized fish in the early to mid evening though... Weird. Think I'm going out tommorrow am till about 11am or so. Try to pre fish a lake from my league. where to go???

I also have to go with mornings. I used to work overnights and I would go as soon as I got home. I love being able to fish my spots without a ton of other boater watching me and taking mental notes about my spots. Now I work days so the mornings don't workout very often. Give and take I guess.... better hours at work means worse fishing hours.
