merganser
Wow, hot topic!!! As long as you are enjoying God's great outdoors, who cares how you are doing it. SINCE everyone is arguing.... If I am in an over sized boat out on the water with a fishing pole in my hand, am I fishing or boating???? I agree with a lot of the things that are being said. Speaking from my own feelings... I used to rough it in a tent up in the great north woods (Little Johnson Lake) where you had to portage in and were very limited on what you could take with you. I do agree that being secluded in a tent it is a totally different feeling than sitting in my camper knowing that if it rains, I don't have to worry about how I am going to cook something to eat. I do miss the sounds of nature, now all I hear is the air conditioner blasting away 'cause my wife is too hot to sleep. There are great things about both RVing and Camping... it seems that the argument should be more about what roughing it is, not what camping is. Just another thought for this day and age... How many of you take your cell phones along "just in case" you have reception at your destination of choice

ole
Camping to me is getting to our spot setting up (used to be tents, now camper )eating food cooked over the fire, playing some games then sacking out.Get up the next morning bright and early to head out and catch some fish before everyone else gets up. bring em in clean em then fry em up on the fire in the big cast iron pan. It's amazing how people wake up to the smell of fish or bacon frying outside over the fire mmmm. After breakfast head out to do a little exploring or boating or both. Take an afternoon swim and kick back in the sun for a while reading. Later go collect some firewood for the evening fire where we all sit around telling stories, eating hot dogs and s-mores, maybe a cold one or two then off to sleep to dream about our day. ole
