This year it's 250 doe permits per season.I shouldn't complain too much. 15 doe permits in 426, ouch! Same deal with me. I hunt 423. 2 years ago it was a managment area. Last year it was lottery with 500 tags. This year its lottery with a whole 25 tags. My chances aren't looking good.
grizzald
The DNR has taken a great first step in 424 and surrounding areas for our deer heard recovery. A total of 30 doe permits will be givin for firearm and all season license. But, one thing that doesnt make sense to me is that the guy that goes out and buys just a muzzleloading license can still take a doe or buck without applying for a anterless permit in a lottery area. It seems to me if we really want good hunting again, fiream, archery and muzzleloader hunters need to be treated equally and everyone should have to apply in the anterless permit lottery. It's tough to take hunting rights away which we have all become use too, but sometimes we need to give a little to have better hunting in years to come. luckey
Lots of good information here. It can be difficult to understand all the ins and outs of the regulations. I have one question that I could not figure out. I have a lifetime firearm license and want to hunt the muzzle loader season. questions:1. Can I "upgrade" from the lifetime firearms to an "all season license"? 2. If so do I just pay the difference between the two?3. If owning a lifetime license means I already "bought" a regular firearm license, then I cannot purchase a muzzle loader license. However, I should be able to upgrade to to an all season license. If so do I have to pay the extra $5.00 fee even if I didn't actually "validate" the lifetime rife license?Life is confusing
UMDSportsman
I am in the same boat you are. i have a lifetime firearms license. last year i upgraded to the all season license. you just have to pay the difference. i don't remember having to pay the extra $5.00 fee. i think i am going to get my license this weekend, if i remember i will tell you what i paid. Last year i remember trying to do it at the local gas station and they couldn't get it to work, so i would go somewhere where they sell a lot of licenses and they should know what to do. i think i had the new person and she couldn't even follow the directions my aunt sent me. (my aunt works for the DNR in the hotline or what ever you call it where they answer everybodies questions over the phone.)
