9th Inning FG can't put Sox over the hump

Down to Earth

Despite missing an extra point in the 3rd inning the Twins managed to pull out a 20-14 win this afternoon. Are you kidding me? I bet the Vikes and Bears don't score that many in each of their games this season.

Was that some truly pathetic pitching today? 39 hits? I was waiting for Ozzie and Gardy to pitch an inning. It couldn't have been any worse. And five errors for the Sox. When's the last time a team had 18 hits, and were never really in the game? If that wasn't their worst game in decades, it had to be right up there.

Fins,

Are you kidding me? One Sided? The score was 20-14!!! I wonder what the Twinks record would be for the year if they gave up 14 runs every game. One Sided? Spinner would be more on the right track with pathetic. I don't know of too many Twink fans who would sleep tight knowing that their pitchers were going to give up two touchdowns every game.I think some of your compadres out there can come up with some better words than one sided. OK guys....Fire Away!

That was a serious two-game beat down. But that is going to be hard on the Twins with Redmond hurt and Mauer needing a day off tomorrow...I wonder if Redmond will try to play, or if the Twins will make a roster move...

Most people would consider 12-0 a one sided game. The afternoon game could be called "pathetic', or "disgusting", or "slugfest" , or just "poor pitching", or in the W.S. case "poor defense", take your pick! Whichever you choose, it is 2 wins for the MINNESOTA TWINS! smile.gif

the key was "tonight's game".- at least for those with a 2nd grade level of english and above. still 32-14 in runs scored for the day, and 12-0 in one game = big time beating.

windy- at least the cubs lost-- and I mean on friday for correct grammar for those lacking in that field.

Tonights game was one sided as Morneau's 3 homers led the way.

Yes, now game two was a beat down. Although a W is a W in the standings, I couldn't enjoy game one when the Twins struggled to hold a ridiculous lead. That looked like a Reds-Nats pitching performance, not a contending team. But on the bright side, Garza is certainly showing improvement.

that is a good way to put it. man, what a weird series. Entertaining however. I do like games like these once in ahwile. i get sick of 1-0 and 2-1 games in a hurry.

by the way, what has happened to Jermaine Dye?

Well that had to be the most "one sided" series split I have ever seen. Funny game, that baseball game!

One sided series? winning 6-3 and 3-1 is no way close to winning 12-0 and 20-14 even though they split the low point of the season for the Sox's has got to be two back to back snack downs within hours of each other. The 20-14 game as I saw it was the Twins just putting runs on the board when they needed them almost like a church softball game.. Only thing good about the Sox's is Ozzie

Bobby,

That's why I put the post in, are you reading the words. I think it is funny that a team can get beat down so bad in a 4 game series and walk out of it with exactly the same number of wins and losses as the team doing the beating. Hence, my comment of baseball being a funny game.
