Water proofing a tent

I was curious to see what all of you do and how often or at all, if you water proof your tents? I sprayed mine about 2 years ago and was wondering if I should do it again this year or just leave it be. I would hate to get caught in a rain storm and the tent begins to leak. What do you guys do?

It depends a lot on the qiuality of the tent. Better tents like Eureka, Alps Mountaineering, etc stay pretty waterproof with only seam sealing. It seems like the lower price/lower quality tents need a bit more help to stay really waterproof. Camp dry work very well on those. How much you need to cover really depends on the size of the tent's rain fly. If the fly covers the tent well thats about all you should need to do, that and maybe the last few inches of tent above the ground line.

He is right there...several of us bought the Sears brand tents and after 5 years of trying to seal them using all kinds of campdry, seam sealer, etc, we are dumping the tents and moving up. The cheap ones are not worth it if it rains.
