Sifty
Just read he was fined 100,000.00 Docked 100 driver points and placed on probation until Dec.3rd.I really don't know what to think about this.On one hand it seems stiff enough but he really could have hurt the 20's jackman.Your Thoughts....Sifty
Eric Wettschreck
That amount of money will hurt, but probation??? I'm having a hard time swallowing the probation thing. Like ya said, he could have seriously hurt 20 jackman. What's next? Double secret probation? Then Double super duper uber super secret probation with a lime twist? They told him to park the car that day. I feel he should keep it parked for a few more races.
LMITOUT
Interesting that he didn't get more. According to Jayski the car failed the post-race inspection and since it was a COT, then he should have received the standard 100pt/$100G penalty for that alone just like Jr. received, plus an additional penalty for his little pit road adventure. It is possible though that the infraction was just speculation on Jayski's part. If the car did fail post race, then he got off easy other than probation for his actions which doesn't amount to anything.
harvey lee
I think you might have to almost kill a person to have NASCAR take you out of some races. I'll agree that he shoukld have been told to sit out 2-3 races. That would have hit home. It might be a tough penalty but, hitting the driver was not a mistake. He should not have done that. The day NASCAR starts to hand out equal penalties will be when I'm gone. Nothing is ever fair in racing. One can go to the track and some fool can make a dumb move, cause you thousands in damage and maybe hurt you and they recieve nothing including a black flag. I guess you just accept this when you go racing.
lawdog
How could the car fail inspection, it was smashed against the wall? That doesn't even make sense, I don't think there was anything left to inspect as no damaged car is the same as the template you started with...As for the penalty, I thought they should sit him for a race, but on the other hand, parking him that day when he didn't have terminal damage might have been their version of doing that, although it didn't cost him near what missing a start would have... Hard to say with NASCAR penalties, there's always a lot that we don't know behind the scenes!
LMITOUT
I don't know...just what it said on Jayski. It doesn't have to be a sheetmetal issue to break the rules and there are a lot of possible places the car could have failed even after wrecking. snowman678
i bet had jr. crashed w/ his illegal wing mounts, they still could have found the infraction. there are a lot of things on a car that could cause it to fail inspection that would have nothing to do with a damaged car. lawdog
Sure there are things they could still find, but usually they check out cars that finish in one piece and run well. Why bother even inspecting cars that have crashed and finished 42nd place? If you can't do better than 42nd by cheating, than go ahead and cheat away! boatfixer
What would happen to guys like you and me if we were to swerve our cars into someone elses almost injuring or killing a pedestrian in the process? ( I know this didn't happen on the street, but I there could be some civil ramifications )I think the "Little Brat" should face A MUCH HARDER penalty. I can't stand Tony S., but I don't like to see this kind of behavior taking place in any sport. I would sit this "child" out many races, then maybe the owners would start to get a handle on their driver's. Penalize Mr. Penske himself.
ricbak
I can't believe this amount is really going to bother him that much. I also think his penalty is peanuts, his deliberate actions of driving into the pits and at another parked car with pit crew members working on it should call for missing some races! That is what would really hurt, the loss of opportunity to score race points and not having your car getting sponsorship exposure would draw attention. It seams that this year tempers have prevailed abit more often.
