Now that Radke finally threw in the towel its time to come up with a new BEACHBALLER and I will nominate Beachballer Jesse Crain this guy is a BUM every time he comes in you might as well shut the game off because he will blow it now I know some of you on this board will reach out and give him a big hug and defend him but the truth is no one wanted him in the off season and now you know why I for one say dump this bum before its too late.

Good Post. Im with you. I dont understand why this guy (Crane) is defended. He has 2 pitches....balls and HRs.

In all fairness to Radke, I think they should make him a pitching coach in one of their minor league systems, and promote him to the big league level when Rick Andersen retires or moves on to a different team. Every pitcher on the Twins squad, first and foremost Santana, have said they learned alot from Brad.

Another Crain beachball, taking the air out of the (almost) Twins comeback, compliments of the Tropicana catwalk ground rule... and he may have passed Sidney (Does This Sweat Make My Face Look Fat?) Ponson in HR per IP with that one...

Let me guess... you were in line at the concession stand during the 1st inning of every game he pitched? smirk.gif

Overall, a good career, but it's easy for folks to remember the shaky starts, and the stats bear that out. Isolating the first 15 pitches of each of the 378 games Radke pitched in his career: 300.1 IP, 375 hits - 57 of which were HRs - a .305 batting average against. The only time his BAA was higher (.315) was during pitches 121-135 (27 games). An aside: Radke threw 136 pitches once in his career: walked the guy and was lifted. (Don'tcha just love yahoo career sports stats?) smile.gif

I think the most significant stat. you mentioned was 378 games piched. He will never be in the Hall but 378 puts him ahead of the vast majority of all the pitchers in history. He had to have been doing something right. Old Sneller

Well, he's probably above the median -- 377 starts means taking the ball every 5th day for 12 years -- but he's a long way off of the leader board:

Cy Young 815

Nolan Ryan 773

Don Sutton 756

Phil Niekro 716

Steve Carlton 709

Tommy John 700

Roger Clemens 690

Gaylord Perry 690

Pud Galvin 688

Bert Blyleven 685

Greg Maddux 673

Walter Johnson 666

Warren Spahn 665

Tom Seaver 647

Tom Glavine 635

Jim Kaat 625

Had to go to retrosheet for that one... tongue.gif
