PikeBayCommanche
Everyone is making a big deal out of this. Leverage maybe?? Telling ole' Teresa we better work somthing out or else these Hendrick Boys might want me??
harvey lee
I dont think its any big deal. I do believe that if he doesnt race for DEI, he will be a team mate of Bowyer, Harvick and Burton. I guess we will see. He could do better with Hendrick or Childress as he would have better equipment, teammates and the DEI headache would be over.I dont understand what Theresa is thinking, what will she have left without a E at DEI? I think she will give in.I also believe that Jr would be better off to leave as the owner, driver deal isnt that great. Who has ever done well with that? tunrevir
Put him in the black #3 with the Budweiser sponsor onit and yeehaw we have a winner. DEI isn't going to do well without Jr. but you have to give them credit, they did get rid of the overly spoken one when they parted with headtrip. That can't be all bad. Could be interesting times heading into the silly season this year if something isn't done by then!Tunrevir~
lawdog
NO driver is bigger than the team. RCR went on and is prospering without Sr., Hendrick will survive after Jeff Gordon retires and so DEI can SURELY overcome the loss of Jr. if need be.That being said, I think he's going nowhere... Harmonica Bear
I can't beleive he would leave or DEI would let him leave either. But can you imagine the $$$ in merchadise that would be generated if he left for another team? It's almost fathomless.
TNFL
Just like that commercial, with the joke about changing his number.Did anyone see PTI last night. They said: Jr just like "everybody" else wants to drive for hendrick. I doubt they are very plugged in though.Could you imagine the confusion in Nascar though. Would JR fans suddenly love all things Hendrick. Would Hendrick fans accept JR. That would be interesting.
harvey lee
I doubt that Jr will leave DEI as he will probably get what he wants. I do believe also that if he were to leave it would be to RCR as he holds the number 3. That would be a huge money maker for all involved. Richard stated once that if Jr left DEI that there were options for him.We can all wonder ubtil they get the deal done. probably all talk on our part as we dont know what is taking place at the moment. TNFL
I'm sure it is all just speculation! But, I would love to see him go anywhere else. Just so all the JR worshippers would have to buy tons of new gear.
Harmonica Bear
Me and some buds over suds were talking about that the other night. They also could just white out or marker out the left side of the "8"
harvey lee
HBThats a good one. I never thought of that and figured I would need to purchase all new shirts, jacket and hat.
Sifty
What would happen to all the Jr. vs Gordon stuff if they where team mates?Even better what about the 24 being part owner in the car Jr. was to drive?Sifty
lawdog
I kind of hope he goes to RYR, just to get you Earnhardt sheep to test your loyalty!!!!!!!

LMITOUT
Doesn't matter where he goes, he's still somebody that the fans like to root for because of who he is and not who he drives for. I know I still would because he isn't an arrogant you-know-what like the Hendrick bunch.

He probably would become one once he started driving winning cars though!Seriously, if Jr. did leave I'd like to see him at RCR but would he lose his identity with Bud, red and the #8 and drive a black #3 with Goodwrench?If/when he does leave, DEI will continue on if they have the right managers in place. Losing your best driver has never killed a team before so I don't see why this team should be any different.
eyepatrol
True. Some teams/owners have never had a good driver!
LMITOUT
Bud will never leave Jr. unless something goes terribly wrong. That's a win-win combination for both of them just in market exposure and merchandise sales alone. Bud will go with Jr. and RCR would embrace both of them with wide-open arms as Richard would get a nice piece of that action as well. I don't think Goodwrench could outbid Bud to get their name back on the car with Dale Jr. driving a black #3. Put the #3 on a red Bud car and call it a day. eyepatrol
I wish I would have been a NASCAR fan some 10 - 15 years ago. Would have been fun to watch the #3, #24 in his early years, Bill Elliott and a host of others. Back then, racing to me was "There they go again!" type of thing. Little did I know. Harmonica Bear
yep, just as easy as that, the #3 Budweiser Chevrolet. If he left my vote would be for RCR as well. I think the whole thing is pretty darn-tootin funny though. maybe Jr and Mikey can be team-mates again for MWR!
TNFL
Has anyone ever considered that maybe JR likes the #8. Maybe he wants his own legacy (even though it was his gpa's). Maybe out of respect he'll never wear #3. Or maybe because he'll NEVER EVER NEVER be able to fill those shoes.I just don't understand the strange fantasy grown men have with a guy driving a certain number???? eyepatrol
Well put TNFL. I'll just mention this. It would be cool to see Jr in the #3 car, if even for just one race (or one race per year). However, speaking from experience, I work with my father and I work under him. I'm not gloating, but he's very well known throughout the business industry we work in because he's been in it for a good number of years. Some people have been bold enough to ask me what it's like working in his shadow. That, in some respects, is an insult to me since I am my own person. Yes I'm his son, but I'm not entirely him. I'm proud to be his son, but I'm still my own self with some different thoughts and different personality. My point? Junior might be thinking and feeling the same way. He maybe doesn't want people to think of him as Dale Earnhardt. He maybe wants them to think of him as Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Maybe he wants to establish his own legacy, whatever it may turn out to be. Okay, that's deep enough for me. My one soapbox moment for the day.

JohnMickish
This isn't the first time that a driver has left after a crashed car. It's kind of funny to joke about but the media blew this one up way to much.I think that the drivers being as competitive as they are once they realize their chances of winning are zero they just want to go home.
