Wirsbo, floor heat

D.J.'s out of St. Michael does it. I also know of a guy who does it on this side for a cheaper price. At least run tubbing, you always can put rest of stuff in later (I.E. heater and pumps). I wished I put it in the slap of my garage. I have an attached 30x40 garage and I use a 75,000 btu Reznor. After sealing garage tight, heating bill is not to bad. But sure wish I would of went with in floor heating. Less noise, cheaper bill's and constant heat source. Good luck.

Helped a buddy put it in his garage a couple of years ago, we used 1/2" garden hose, and heated it with a hot water heater and a thermostaticaly controlled pump, Was a very cheap heat system and it is still working I hear, 10 years or so. HTB

Where's Dale Huber out of??? Do you have a number,, do most heating and plumbimg guys know this techneque???

I put the floor heat into my 40x56 shop, best thing I ever did. Its powered by a small electric boiler. I keep the floor heat set at 40 degrees and then bring the heat up to working temp with a small wood stove, that way if I'm only in there 2-3 nights a week I'm not paying to keep it up too high. A couple of years ago it cost my $300 to heat for the entire heating season.

Make sure you talk to a reputable dealer, he'll size your system according to shed size, number of windows and doors, etc. They also had us insulate under the concrete. Also consider a floor drain if you're going to pull vehicles in, to get rid of that melted snow.

That Wirsbo tubing is guaranteed for 50 years, I wouldn't go cheap like one guy and use garden hose??! Sounds penny wise and pound foolish.

I installed the insulation and had the heating guy do the rest, I wanted it done right. His name was Daryl Sanderson and he owns Riverview Refrigeration out of New London. Great guy. If you live in the western burbs he may work with you.

Spend the extra money for the floor heat, you won't regret it!! My old shop didn't have it and the floor was always cold, even if the air temp got up to 75 degrees.

Does anyone have any issues with humidity during the winter with a heated garage?

My neighbor and I both have this in our garages...he mentioned to me last winter that his windows were fogged up fairly often and he was worried about the effects the humidity might have on the sheetrocked walls...I have not had an issue with this at all the two years I've owned this home and have been very happy with it. Set the temp at 50-60 when it's really cold...it's awesome. Nice quiet heat, warm floors. Definitely the way to go..

I had warsbo in the lower level of my last house and would never build anything again without it. Quite, efficient, no drafts, I could go on and on. And I do agree that you should hire a reputable company to install it or make sure you know what you are doing and get the best tubing etc. The only thing worst than no infloor heat is badly installed in floor heat.
