Trailer bunks

Slugo

Question

Does anyone know how often or even if I should replace my bunks on my boat trailer. The carpet on them is shot and the trailer is about 10 years old.

Thanks for any info

I replaced mine last year, wood and all. Sprayed the heck out of the carpet w/teflon spray and it worked great. Just another method. My wood was rotting and a little over due. They lasted 10 years. Should have really been redone at 7. frown.gif

a freind of mine put those on his trailer. the worked great for a couple of years, but! he didn't keep a close eye on them and they wore down to where the screw heads were above the plastic. tore the dump out of the bottom of his ranger. del

I replaced mine last summer after 6 years of use. I found out the hard way. I noticed one bunk was sagging when I unloaded. When I went to touch it it was very springy and it was half cracked from rot. Luckily, I could load the boat up still. Made some measurements went to the lumber yard and got some green 2x4's and bought some carpet at the boat shop. Made the repairs all in one day. I also bought some of those gliders. So far I like them.
